Mentoring also promote strengthening of knowledge, increase confidence, decrease shock of new environment and situation (Blunt, 2010). Conclusively, the expected outcome of our project is to provide mentees with sources, strategy, and support system that will help our students not only successfully finish the program, but also pass the NCLEX on the first attempt. Furthermore, students are planning to use 2-3 sources for preparation to NCLEX, including review courses and books. This results correlates with successful strategy of the previous cohorts and it was shown in our study as well. Despite the fact that Saunders NCLEX –RN Comprohensive Reviw was the most recommended by mentors, we recommended to use additional source of questions. Second the most popular review was a Kaplan course. Additionally questions in Q bank of Kaplan review were designed similarly to the test questions. This fact helps to reduce anxiety and successfully pass the test. Research project …show more content…
. In our study we designed questions for two groups of students mentees and mentors to establish a relationship between successes in passing NCLEX and mentorship. Mentees are students that have their first semester in the program and mentors are graduate students from MSN program. The most difficult part was to find the way to gather mentees together for our presentation. With help from our faculty we had a successful meeting with mentees and conducted our presentation. The main idea of our presentation was to provide information on NCLEX design, to provide tips and strategy, and to establish a relationship between mentees and mentors. During preparation for the presentation we shared our experiences and our sources that we used to pass NCLEX. First we organized a presentation on NCLEX with detailed explanations on design of the test what areas to focus during program and what materials to use for more efficient preparation for the NCLEX. Second we ask students to submit survey on qualtrics. This method provided non-bias information for our research. We sent link to two surveys for mentees and mentors, to students of cohort eight, and students of cohort five and six correspondently. Week point of our study was a small sample and a strong point was a high
