To combat the transportation issues I have several recommendations. Since safety appears to be a major issue around the end of the school or work day, I would recommend several changes associated with developing routes in which a community member could use to return home or to school. This would be particular tailored for the students in elementary school and at NCCU; since these students were the ones appeared to live closet to the schools, but used the most mobile or public transportation. I would recommend that these particular routes be designated only for those walking home and categorize them for NCCU students and elementary schools; making sure to note the necessity to separate the age groups. First, I would recommend more visible security. Security is present on the campus, as I stated earlier, but they are scattered among the buildings. There are many buildings on a campus that is fairly large and open; making assaults possible, especially during night classes. More visible security at the highest risk locations on campus is a recommendation that I believe could prevent future assaults or criminal activity. Next, I recommend required ID to enter all campus buildings, especially those exclusive to NCCU students. For those buildings open to NCCU students and the community residents I recommend more entrance requirements. Such as, sign in and sign out logs, and required name badges to wear while in the building; in order to monitor who is authorized to be in the building. Lastly, I would recommend security to closely monitor students who attend night classes, especially those who walk to them. Security should be located at all risk areas, and escort these students to classes; considering the class hours and routes of transportation. I believe incorporating all of these recommendations could positively impact the community; and meet the two major needs that are currently not being
