My decision to apply for the NCCC scholarships stems from the perfect platform it provides to pursuing the interest I developed in Nursing whilst in Senior High School. During my Senior High School days in Ghana, my class visited the sick in some hospitals and upon seeing their agony and the way some nurses were maltreating some of the patience, I said to myself, I will become a nurse to offer comfort and care to the sick. I noticed during my interactions with some of the sick especially the aged how comforting and healing could come through empathy, helpful hand and friendly interactions. I built a strong relationships with some of the patients, collected their phone numbers and used to call them to check on them. There are two of these people I still call to check on them even now that I am in the United States.
Eager to pursuing my nursing career, I enrolled in the Home Health Aid programme when I first moved to the United States in 2011. After completing the course I worked in a nursing home and currently still

As children, our parents shape our ideas and opinions. When I was a child I thought Texas A&M was the only university my parents would let me attend based on the way they talked about it. I thought that they would not help pay for my college if I went anywhere else. It was not until I was in high school that I realized that Texas A&M was the only university I wanted to attend. I would like to study at Texas A&M to continue my family tradition, for the opportunities it offers after graduation and to be admitted to the dental school with a great education behind me.…

I decided to attend Florida A&M University (FAMU) for a variety of reasons, including the location of its campus, because I was offered a full scholarship, and of course, because of the pharmacy program. Moreover, I believe that I am the ideal candidate for being a part of FAMU’s pharmacy program. To begin, FAMU is located in Tallahassee, Florida, a city that I had wanted to attend college in since I was in elementary school. Tallahassee is a city of containing and surrounded by many events and opportunities, so no matter your preferred “scene,” you are likely to be able to find something you do. Another upside to FAMU’s location is that it also places me very close to my mother and the rest of my maternal family, who I had previously not gotten to see almost since elementary school.…

I feel like I am a good candidate for this scholarship because, as a senior, any and all money earned and received will help me ease the burden of attending college. My goal throughout my whole childhood was to receive a full ride scholarship to the college of my dreams; however, as time has gone on and I have matured I have come to the realization that, that dream is not as achievable as I once believed it to be. I have worked hard, inside and outside of the classroom, making the grades and creating the resume that colleges are looking for, and in response I have been offered tuition waivers. Which ultimately means I am still responsible for paying for my books, room and board, part of the tuition cost, and mandatory fees.…

National Honors Society is something I am honored to be asked to be a part of, it is something I have been working for, that just comes to show that if you put your mind to something and become dedicated that anything is possible. NHS is designed to help better students, and to show that you can always do better. It is a respectable program for students who have excelled in school, which includes: no discipline referrals, maintaining a high GPA throughout the year, and being a well behaved student. I as a student of W.T. Sampson high school would like to be a part of NHS because of all the hard work and dedication I have put into this school year. Another reason would be how good it looks on college applications; it would give me higher chances being accepted.…

When most kids think about what they want to be when they grow up, very few think about how much it will cost. Most kids want to be an astronaut or the president, but the cost to get there can be high, especially when it comes to the education portion of the job.
