When Kobe Bryant said he would forgo college and take his talents to the NBA the journey to greatness began. I think this is the only thing I didn't enjoy about Kobe Bryant's career when he was drafted 13th overall to the Charlotte Hornets then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. One can only imagine what would've happened to the legend of Hornets basketball if that move was never made, but I digress it's fun to dream. He quickly became a Hollywood star transforming the Lakers organization once again. He helped the NBA transition from the tail end of Michael Jordan's career to the Kobe era and realize they would be just fine.…

There have been many elements that I have learned through the Harlingen High School basketball program, which may be transferred to any situation in life, as the basketball program has allowed me to determine the type of person I am. This was due to the fact that I was placed in many challenging situations, which fatigued me both mentally and physically, to a point which I chose how willing I was to overcome those obstacles. Organized basketball has been a part of my life beginning at age six, and has not left my side since. I have loved the game itself, and the actual competitiveness that is apart of it. Competitiveness is the overall intention for the game of basketball and would not and could not be enjoyed without such an element as it.…

The NFL does not have max contracts, which means star players get huge contracts taking up large parts of the salary cap, the most a team can spend on contracts. Since the max contracts in the NBA take up less percentage of the salary cap than the NFL non-max contracts, more money is free to spent elsewhere.…

Above all, travel between the United States and Europe would undoubtedly be an issue. European teams would have several trans-Atlantic treks a season and teams located beyond the East Coast would have epic journeys half way around the world (“NBA Players Cautious Over European Expansion”). Jet lag, loss of sleep, and other factors could affect quality of play, as well as create reluctance amongst players to cross the Atlantic Ocean to play in Europe. Determining an effective schedule and analyzing travel discrepancies will be a major issue with the implementation of the NBA in Europe. Under the current structure of the NBA, there is often times when teams play a road game one night, and then have to travel home after the game because of a game that is scheduled that next night.…
