NAEYC Professional Development Report

Decent Essays
The professional development activity that I am choosing to do is becoming a member of the NAEYC. According to the NAEYC, they promote high-quality learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. This website is a great resource for teachers. It has sections on developmental appropriate practice, and a ton of learning opportunities for early childhood professionals. A teacher could spend hours looking through everything that the NAEYC offers. The great thing about this website is that if anybody is new to the field, the NAEYC provides educators with so resources for them to be successful. By becoming a member you can get subscriptions of magazines and one that I picked was 'Teaching

Upon completion of the Master of Science Advance Practice Nursing Program, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) must go through the process of credentialing to provide services in patient care. Certification is different from credentialing, for instance, once the Nurse Practitioner finishes his/her program, they could obtain a certificate by taking the certification exam from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification (AANP). The credentialing process is when the healthcare provider is “given authority to provide patient care in the hospital setting” (Hittle, 2010). The hospital is responsible for conducting a review over the NP certification(s), education, skills, training, and licensure. “Credentialing is a system used by various organizations and agencies to ensure that their healthcare practitioners meet all necessary requirements and are appropriately qualified” (What Nurse Practitioners Need to Know About Credentialing,…

Developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) is the natural way that children learn when provided with an environment that encourages exploration and creativity. One of the most highly effective developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood care and education today is play. Allowing an unhurried time to enjoy the engagement of playing with others grants children the opportunity to use their imagination in a way that accommodates learning experiences with willingness and an open mind. Children feel a sense of belonging and importance when they are a part of something, which is why responsive caregiving also goes hand in hand with these practices. The more you interact with children the less likely they are to become socially incompetent.…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

Before I came to Kisling Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA), I thought of myself as a good leader with certain traits and aspects. I believe that if I take care of my airmen, that they’ll take care of me by completing work orders, squadron objectives, or any future events without question. It wasn’t until I attended NCOA, that I was able to put concept names to the leadership traits that I had. For example, I would put aside my self-interest for the good of the work center because I wanted my guys to know that I have their best interest at heart. Which turns out to be part of transformational leader idealized influence.…
