When comparing the NAEYC Program Administrator Definition and Competencies and the Ohio’s Core Knowledge & competencies for Program Administrators there are some similarities and differences. These documents were written to provide a greater resource and support to administrators in child care, preschool or kindergarten programs (Sciarra, Dorothy June). Some of the same information is stated in both documents. The NAEYC document and the Ohio’s CKC both provided lists of the competencies needed for an effective early childhood program. The NAEYC goes further to breakdown these competencies into two broad categories: Management knowledge and skills and Early childhood knowledge and skills.
