Myths and heroes have been around for generations. They influence our lives and give us someone to look up to. They have shaped our society and helped us progress into the future by helping us understand and embrace important things in our lives like women's rights and our differences. Studying myths, superheroes and modern heroes helps us better understand and reflect on our society today. Studying them helps us because they help us understand women's rights, they show us that being different and not belonging to a crowd is alright and they encourage us to pursue our passions and to believe in ourselves when no one else does.

Stephen Hawking is a modern hero that has ALS but he did not let his disability stop him from achieving his goals and studying physics. He is seen as a hero to people because he did not give up on his passions. He was not considered smart, yet people claim that he is brilliant. He is considered to be brilliant now because he tried and succeeded in proving that black holes exist. His story inspires and encourages people to try and accomplish their goals. Stephen Hawking was teased and not taken seriously by his friends and fellow scientists. Despite all of that he continued to study and accomplished great things. Stephen Hawking did not let them discourage him. Stephen Hawking is a hero to those who are bullied and teased because he did not let that stop him, he let it motivate him.
