Gregg Cantrell’s book “Feeding the Wolf: John B. Rayner & the Politics of Race” dives into the life of Rayner as an African-American politician of the Populists party during Reconstruction. Cantrell then examines Raynor’s life as a politician driven to defeat the Democratic party, much like his father. The book nicely details the ups and downs of politics with the Populist party, how race is affected, and how these changes affected Mr. Rayner. When you are going into the fridge to find something to eat or drink, do you think about where the food or drink comes from? I highly doubt it; if you were to think about it, I would bet most of the products in your fridge have some type of dairy cow product in it. The question of whether or not Druids really existed has been up for debate for a long time now and historians have never been able to prove it ether. Aside from a couple transcripts and a recount from Julius Caesar himself there is hardly any backbone to the myth. However, that has not stopped many authors from incorporating Druids into their stories, and having almost not historical limits to base themselves on has given them a blank canvas to get as creative as they wished. That being said, based of what little knowledge is available on the Druids, there are three main traits that every Druid seems to posses regardless of the story. Such as using herbs and potions to heal, forecasting future events and finally, whether or not they could…

In The Cultural Ecology of India’s Sacred Cattle, Marvin Harris describes the Hindu sacredness of cows as being more influenced by economy than theology. He calculates the economic advantages and disadvantages of cows and the consequences of illegalizing cow slaughter, without considering the possibility that these may have come from theology. In the first paragraph, Harris admits that he has never been to India and all of his research is based off of reading. He admits this may lead to some errors, although outright errors are unlikely. All of his research was purely statistics-based and gave practically no room for misinformation.…
