Last year, I was stuck on the myth of perfect first drafts. When I was assigned a writing assignment, I would go straight to writing; no planning or actual thinking. And as soon as I would finish my paper, I would turn it in. I was so confident that my paper was perfect, but when I received my paper back, it was not the grade I had expected; I was very upset considering I had devoted so much time into that paper. After receiving my paper back, I read through it to see what had gone wrong; there was so many minor errors, and some of my sentences were so off topic. After this awful experience and reading this article, I have learned that there is no such thing as a perfect first draft; polished writing takes lots of revisions.
