Most often when people think of healthy teeth, a pearly white smile comes to mind. One of the most common complaint dentists hear from their patients, is discoloration. In response dentists ask follow up questions about the patients consumption of Tabaco (smoked or chewed), coffee, tea, or dark fruit juices (Ex: blueberries, grapes, blackberries exc.). These are some examples of the worst offenders to teeth discoloration; other factors such as aging also contribute to the yellowing of teeth. With age the enamel begins to thin making the layer of yellowish dentin underneath more visible (Shanard, 2015). There are two main types of tooth discoloration, extrinsic and intrinsic, luckily there are a verity of treatment options.
