Amethyst: A Short Story

Improved Essays
I took a long deep sigh and thought about that mystic incident I encountered this evening, probably million times till then. But the thing is: What could possibly happen to a boring and reserved person like me? I’m a late teenager living with my mother, with no father, no grandparents, no relatives, even ancestry information.

My mum is a very tough woman and works as an archaeologist. She gave me an amulet when I was a child and claimed to be from eld. It’s a poorly smithed sword-like shape, filled with an Amethyst. Despite that, she is a single mother who toiled for me but I dare not ask why. I looked at a ticking clock; it was 11 at night and I sluggishly lied down in my bed.

Earlier, on my way to home from school, I stopped by a riverbank and observed a green scenery. It’s a plain, remote area where a cool breeze arises from a shimmering river and

“It was the time when I had no will to live and I met him. He was a fine swordsman and I was just an ordinary citizen migrating places. It must have been a fate that had brought us together. And I again had a will to live; to live my life together with him. We had also built a small house, beside a river on a beautiful land. As time passed on, I came to know many things about him including that he was the prince, Lukowas, your father.” The words struck me like a lightning bolt and I flashbacked to everything that was occurring those past days. She continued, “But before we had met, he had some dispute with the king which in result he left his castle and went on an endless journey. On the other hand, the king had sent his men to find Lukowas and take his life on the spot.” My mum on the verge of crying continued with shaking voice. “And one day during my absence, they had found him and taken him away. When I got home, there was no one, everything seemed as chaotic as a battlefield. I ran around looking for him but all I found was the amulet on your neck lying on a

I was over ecstatic when Fernando, (also known as Fernie) my best guy friend asked me to go on a walking adventure with him in our hometown of Kelseyville, California. We started off the day by walking in the forest alongside of Kelsey Creek. This forest has a really big meaning to Fernie and I, because we both love nature in every aspect and these walking adventures are not uncommon to us. Starting on the path we both got lost in our own thoughts, I got distracted by looking above me at the the canopy the tree branches created. My eyes followed the patterns the sunlight was creating as it broke through the leaves and cascaded onto the uneven forest floor.…

My father was very protective over our family sword. He was so protective that I, Princess Cordelia, his daughter, couldn't even touch it. Not a single poke or a tap. It was awful to be honest. Artistic Value Of Place

I always tend to think of the world around me in a romantic way; it’s all for the aesthetics. I am and always have been focused on the artistic value of the landscape. Because of that, the place that influenced me the most was over the course of my freshman year here at UF. I lived over at Trusler Hall, the west side of campus and right outside of our dorm was this set of tables right near a pond. I sat there daily, doing work, and just watched the world go by.…

Feeling comforted by the sight, she once again closed her eyes, but those horrific visions were still fresh in her mind. Rinka realized that the nightmares were becoming more frequent over the past few weeks and even months once she really thought about the many nights of lost sleep. From conversations she’d overheard from her tribal elders and her kinfolk, she knew that the people in Roman occupied Germania were facing very dangerous times, made more so by the constant fighting between rival chieftains. And why was she never able to find her father in those nightmares, she wondered; certainly in a circumstance when she so desperately needed…

In the expansive landscape, mountains spring up from the earth with a majestic presence that shows their dominance and power in the light grey of the limestone. The jagged curves of the mountains demonstrate the timeless beauty of nature and the earth’s geological past, which slowly transformed the savanna. The sky witnessed these changed over the centuries and began to reflect these transformations in an array of whites and light blues. A cocoon of white patches and soft blues allowed the sun to light up the beauty of the trees.…
