Mysterious Cases Of Murder In Gothic Literature

Gothic literature has mysterious cases of murder which can be seen in the story ¨And Then There Were None¨ and the story ¨The Damned Thing¨ In Agatha Christie's story And Then There Were None she has ten characters on a remote island and she has on person killing each person on the island but nobody knows who it is, but in Ambrose Pierce´s story ¨The Damned Thing¨ there is a man who is wanting to find what is on his property but when he and a friend hunt it down there is nothing there and then the man dies to this mysterious thing, In And Then There Were None the characters went to a remote island and they were all invited by the same person and in the beginning of the story someone mysteriously dies. Another thing the two stories have in common are that people/things are falsely accused of murder. In And Then There Were None Mr. Rogers was accused of being the murder of Mrs.Rogers in the beggining of the story. In ¨the damned thing¨ a mountain lion is thought to be the reason why Morgan had died. But in And Then There Were None we actually found out who the real murderer was at the end of the story. In ¨the damned thing¨ we really did not find out who or what had killed Morgan all we know is that we can not see nor hear it. The characters act in the same ways, sort of, when they find out that these people are dying .In And Then There Were None at first the characters are shocked but as more and more people are dying they are like am I next. They were not as worried about the deaths towards the end of story they are more worried about who is the murderer. In ¨the damned thing¨ Harcker is just in a state of shock, Harcker is thinking who or what killed him. In conclusion gothic literature has weird and mysterious cases of murder, in majority of gothic stories there is a random thing killing the main character or
