In the Veteran’s health care administration, Information and communication technology is used frequently by the Human resources department. Employees have recently switched from VISTA software to a privatized system though Kronos incorporated called VA time and attendance system or VATAS for short. Timesheets, leave balances, leave request and schedules are accessible to the employee, supervisor, and time keeper via internet browser. This service is convenient to employees, because it itemizes your leave accrual and usage and projects end of year balances to prevent you from over spending or capping out and losing leave. This is a new, more modern update to VISTA, also Vista was only accessible through work terminals and VATAS can be accessed anywhere with approved login credentials. …show more content…

MyPay also allows you to adjust retirement and health insurance plans as well as print out tax forms such as W-2 and 1095 health care coverage. One area that would be a good candidate for increased automation would be the appointment scheduling system. The VA has had many public issues with scheduling patient appointments, and we also have a very high patient appointment cancellation and no-show rate. An increasing number of veterans are comfortable using computers, so an online self-scheduling and cancellation program could be very beneficial in reducing the number of no-show appointments and allowing the VA to see a greater number of veterans through improved utilization of current providers and care spaces. A more automated system with increased patient involvement may also help…

At one organization I used Microsoft Publisher to create a color coded grid for Draft Day activities with leadership responsibilities and I identified an online software program for creating organizational charts. At one of the organizations I recommended a change to the expense form and the accounting department approved and implemented the change. At one of the…
