Improved Essays
In the Myers-Brigg assessment I scored ESTP which means I am spontaneous, active with people and get great satisfaction from acting on my impulses. I enjoy activities involving great power, speed, thrill and risks are attractive to me. Chronic stifling of these impulses makes the me feel "dead inside". In the DISC assessment I learned that I score high in strong communication and trust in others, I tend to be perceived as a rule-bender and I communicate well with others.
The tests that I have taken will help me in my success in a company because I have learned a few of my strengths and weaknesses. My strengths in communication can help in succeed because this means that I know and feel comfortable communicating to a diverse group of people.

Another of my weaknesses is I tend to be a rule-bender and although I take a stand in the ideas I believe are right. I need to learn how to stand up for my ideas and what I believe is right in a way that will not affect my superiors, other employers or myself. I do think that I have these qualities that I scored high and low in the assessments. As or right now I have good communication skills and I am sympathetic when it comes to other people which I believe are the two main qualities a leader should have. I also agree that my weaknesses are what hold me back from becoming a great leader. In order to become a great leader one day,
I must learn to appreciate my strengths and weaknesses, but also be willing to learn how to continuously be improving my skills because a leader is always willing to learn. I aspire to one day achieve more skills that will help me in my career and although I particularly don’t want to become a manager or someone who is seen as a leader, I do believe that with the skills I have now and aspire to have one day I can fulfill a position in which allows me to inspire others to one day themselves become a

Looking over the directions on how to complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment it sounded like another psychological analysis into our minds to track the way we think (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). It reminded me of a test given by major companies to a candidate for an available position to see what made you tick or find out if you would steal from them or go postal on the whole company. But to my surprise I actually learned something about myself, things that came natural to me to the point of not really paying any attention to them. According to this assessment my top strength is Strategic which does make sense to me when I started to review the results printed out on my report.…

After completing both the DISC and JUNG Typology assessments, there are many outcomes that I found interesting. For starters, in the DISC assessment there were multiple categories that gave me various feedback. These included decisive, interactive, stabilizing, and cautious categories. My decisive score showed moderately low on the “D” spectrum and I thought that was very accurate. I tend to be hesitant on sharing my opinions in big group setting and I also would rather support someone else’s decisions rather than argue with them unless they are completely wrong.…

There have been many great leader, such as Odysseus, who all have the same qualities such as being hopeful, having courage, compassion, and intelligence. All of these qualities can make someone a good leader, but if they are closed-minded, permit negative gossip, and have poor communication skills then they can't be a good leader. You have to look at both the good and detrimental qualities to determine if someone is a good leader. Hope is a feeling of trust, an expectation for a certain outcome. Giving hope to your people combines the alignment, engagement, and vision of the organization.…

“You cannot be anything you want to be – but you can be a lot more of who you really are” (p 9). An interesting theory and certainly a more realistic one. Knowledge of what your strengths are is a necessary step towards success, but first we must understand what the word strength means. People’s understanding of strengths is often confused with skills. The difference between the two is that strengths are a natural ability whereas a skill is an ability that is learned.…

My Personal Leadership Philosophy and How it has Developed As a leader I am very unique. I hold strong personal values in the areas of trust, respect, and responsibility. I believe that no one person should be responsible for someone else, but that we have to grow up and learn to take care of ourselves. Prior to this course, I perceived leaders as people who told a group of people what to do in order to accomplish a task. But employers need to think carefully about what to communicate. Show respect for your employees by not covering up bad news or giving it a positive spin, as most people will be able to see straight through it. Employees will not be able to help their company to embrace change if they are not made aware of the situation, or the chosen course of action. A manager must be able to tell their employees what is expected of them, sympathise with their situation, and publicly recognise individual and team performances. Communicate as much as possible about as much as possible.…
