1.1 Company Background
Myer Holding Limited (MYER) was established by Sidney Myer, a migrant from Russia to Melbourne. The first store was opened in Victoria in 1900. After its success, a second store was opened in 1908 (Myer, 2006). It is one of the Australian’s largest retailing department store chains providing a range of various products including women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, intimate apparel, fragrances and cosmetics, homewares, electrical goods, toys, footwear, handbags and accessories and general merchandise. It also owns the designer womenswear brand Sass and Bide (Myer, 2016). Myer trades in all Australian states and in one of Australia’s self-governing territories. More than 130 million
