1. To set up a tray for a myelography exam you will need to have all supplies handy. Some of the supplies that are commonly used are injectable local anesthetic, syringes and needles, sterile drape, and collection tubes. You will use sterile technique and drape a sterile towel over a tray.
At this point you would place the package in the center of the surface. You will open it away from you; open the left side with left hand and right side with right hand. Make sure not to ever reach over the sterile field. You will need to open the pack and let the objects drop out of the sterile packet on to the tray. You should always to remember to keep the packets that you are opening six inches above the tray.
