My Writing Styles Essay

Improved Essays
Throughout the time that I have spent in the educational system I have used various writing styles in my literature. These different styles have helped me to find out the type of person I am. When I first started writing, I would write in a style of just writing down words to form a story that had no true meaning. I maintained this form of writing until one of my middle school teachers had a talk with me about my form of writing. They spoke to me on how my style of writing wouldn’t help me moving forward, because other teachers and future professors wouldn’t accept the type of work I was making. After that talk I started to read different forms of literature to try and relate to an author or a form of writing style that I could use as a template …show more content…
I then start writing in a way that shows some sincerity and also a lesson that can be learned from the experience. This is shown as I write this essay, because I am writing about how I learned to write better and found my writing style. Although now it seems easy to write in that form, but it can be difficult for me to sometimes share some of my personal stories. For example, I once wrote about my relationship in a college essay because of some issues that we were facing. I wanted to write about it, because writing can also be an outlet for me. I let out emotions from myself and let them flow onto the paper or keyboard where I lose any weight that the issue or memory had on me. The beginning of writing may be difficult but then it just starts flowing out and I truly believe that I am creating something special and unique. I may not be the best author in the world, but I do like the literature I have created and will continue to improve upon as I continue to move forward. Literature is a big part of my life even if I didn’t want to admit it before. I hope to get better in my literature and to learn many new things in this

The differences between the style of writing that I do to friends and family and the style of writing to instructors are quite distinct. When writing to family and friends, it’s much more informal and not nearly as structured as it would be if I were to write to instructors. It would be similar to how I would talk to them in person and I would use words that would be deemed informal to more professional type people. When I ever do have to write to professionals such as instructors, it would be structured as if I was writing a report or an essay. Being formal when writing to people such as instructors or supervisors is necessary to seem more professional yourself.…

No matter how many times I’ll have to write one, reflections are always difficult. They make you look at yourself and your work and dissect every good and bad aspect of it. Sometimes it’s hard because just the task of analyzing one’s own work can be tricky, but my personal biggest issue is learning how to fix what I find specifically wrong. Part of this is due to my own writing style, along with the bad habits that come with it. However, throughout this class, I have learned more about how to relay my ideas more concisely to my audience and in a more summarized form.…

Composing about how a rhetorical writing experience was a result of a particular situation was a challenging task for me, simply because I could not think of any time that I intentionally wrote as a consequence to a situation. Fundamentally speaking, I do not consider myself a “writer”. Yes, anyone who writes anything is considered a writer, however, I rarely find myself dedicating my free time to literature. A writer, in my opinion, is someone who constantly expresses their passion for writing itself, and uses it as an outlet of expression toward anything, personal or general.…

These books were my first look into writing for recreation and not just as some school assignment. These worlds created through words encouraged me to find more complex ways to describe the subjects that I wrote about instead of just using the quickest and simplest words that could express the same message. This new descriptive way of writing eventually caused me to meet many young writers. Though I was not always one for writing in my spare time I often enjoyed reading the work of other writers, especially friends and classmates. Due to the knowledge I had gained through my many hours of reading I was often asked to read and edit others work.…

Completing assessment one has helped me to develop more knowledge and skills such as formal writing style, language use, systemic rules and grammatical structure. As per Grellier and Goerke (2014) proofreading and editing helps writers to clearly understand the perception of the essay. Weekly readings, collaborations and blackboard activities have all helped me to improve my proofreading skills to identify grammatical and spelling errors in my essay. Additionally, using various grammar programs before submitting my essay will help to reduce grammar and spelling errors. Therefore, my writing structure, spelling and grammar use will continue to develop and improve.…

William Strunk, Jr. and E.B. White recognize many people consider writing difficult, especially when not everyone is practicing it daily. During the introduction of The Elements of Style White claims that often writers struggle to clearly present their ideas, what should be clear and easy to say presents scrambled and frail on paper. For this reason, it is White’s goal to help all aspiring writers to develop their own satisfactory writing style. The text is separated into basic grammar rules, how to structure your writing, misused words and expressions, and an approach to style. All four of these sections are written clear and concise and are easily put into practice in daily life.…

    Essay On My Writing Style

As I look back to the writing I have done the past couple of years the first things I think of are rushed deadlines, automated essay prompts and constant cramming. Throughout my high school years the focus of writing assignments shifted from a method of self expression to a type of formula needed to pass many of the Advanced Placement exams. Although I did enjoy the freedom writing gave in my younger years when I was still given an opportunity to voice my thoughts and opinions, I have not grown fond of the writing style imposed upon me during my later high school years. The assignments were regurgitated College Board prompts given to me and my classmates by a teacher trying to prepare us for an exam that would not just reflect on us, but ultimately brand their reputation as a teacher. The goal of writing was neither to properly express and communicate with the world, nor was it to simply become better writers for our own benefit; it was to learn the formula in order to do well on a single exam.…

When it comes to writing; I have never really had a preferred method or process. For the most part I usually just try to force ideas out onto paper in a somewhat organized manner. I have always had a serious problem with procrastination and staying on subject, so if I do not find myself interested in what I am learning I always seem to zone out. Even when it comes to subjects I enjoy writing has never captivated my interest, and when I do manage to write something it is always terribly disorganized and hardly makes any sense. As of this year I have been working at paying closer attention in class and working on my writing skills as a whole.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…

Writing is considerably one of the most important skills that a person can have. Being that, writing is a skill that requires much nurturing in order to perfect the quality of your work when writing. However, I will say that writing; both academically and non-academically is fairly hard to learn when incorporating all the essential mechanism that calls for a good writer to know and understand. Also, I like to consider writing as a system of laws, although you will not get into any actual trouble for breaking one of the laws of writing, instead your work will suffer and so will your credibility as a writer. Therefore, I am going to being using this essay to express who I was a writer, who I have become as a writer, and what I would advise future writer who attend English 101 courses.…
