My Writing Style Essay

William Strunk, Jr. and E.B. White recognize many people consider writing difficult, especially when not everyone is practicing it daily. During the introduction of The Elements of Style White claims that often writers struggle to clearly present their ideas, what should be clear and easy to say presents scrambled and frail on paper. For this reason, it is White’s goal to help all aspiring writers to develop their own satisfactory writing style. The text is separated into basic grammar rules, how to structure your writing, misused words and expressions, and an approach to style. All four of these sections are written clear and concise and are easily put into practice in daily life. I found that the first section of the book has been very helpful in both academic and workplace writing. It includes basic grammar rules that are easily overlooked while writing, but can be detrimental to the readers understanding of the text. A personal writing style focuses not on rules, but on how you show emotion in your writing. The author gives examples of famous lines written and changes the presentation of them. Although the sentences have no grammatical errors they don’t evoke the same feeling in the reader. In my experience writing style has become more important than it ever has been because of the digital age. In one day I man communicate by email, instant message, and a letter to people all over the world. Without developing a personal writing style it’s impossible for the recipients of my message to know exactly what I am trying to communicate. My style will change to fit the specific context, purpose, and audience this way they can interpret exactly what I am trying to
