My Writing Style Analysis

Newspapers are on the verge of extinction as information is digitalized and uploaded onto the world wide web for everyone to access. In only a few seconds, data can be retrieved solely from fingertips. No longer are people writing love letters or sending postcards to each other but instead sending digital texts that arrive almost immediately. Information travels instantly whereas millenniums ago, it had to travel by feet and would take forever to reach its destination. This digital age has modified the perception of information as well as the writing that delivers it. The writing style has changed drastically as people are writing in shorter sentences to get information out quickly whereas people would write in lengthy, descriptive sentences …show more content…
On both Instagram and Twitter, Lancôme posted that they will donate a dollar to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital for every hand heart images shared with the hashtag LancômeGivesBack. I decided to help support this cause and posted a picture of my own onto Instagram, hoping that my followers will do the same or at least recognize this cause. I received confirmation that my followers saw my message about St. Jude from the likes. I saw that Lancôme liked my picture as well. Of course, my followers consist of my family members and close friends, so I do not have many followers to reblog and share this deed that Lancôme is carrying …show more content…
As a result of the absence of a Twitter account, the only option was to post on Instagram. However, Instagram is still a popular and well-known application that millions of users internationally use to connect and get updates. Whereas Twitter imposes a character restriction on its users, Instagram users have free range to write. However, I simply just wrote "Help support St. Jude's Children Research Hospital #LancomeGivesBack." The short message helps the reader obtain information quickly without trying to search for the message in a maze of words. People tend to scroll past posts with long paragraphs as time is wasted. Approximately eight minutes max was spent on creating the post: six minutes for the photo and two minutes for the text. Everything was conducted on the iPhone: the editing of the photo and the uploading of the message onto Instagram. Instagram offers filters to apply to the pictures, but I prefer an external application to take my pictures as the quality of the picture is higher and another one to do the editing as there are more filters and settings to which I can apply to my

This will help build a relationship between one another. Twitter can be used as a search tool to find people who are interested in topics relevant to Red Barn’s mission, and then draw them to the Red Barn foundation. Instagram will help illustrate the Red Barn’s cause through images that will visually appeal to the main demographic. Also, by engaging in social media sites, the use of hash tags can also help the posts reach a broad, but very specific group of people. Overtime, the foundation will examine the increase in followers and trending hash tags.…

In this generation, social media has a lot of influence on people. With a social media blitz, people would become aware of the problem so it could be fixed. The first step to a social media blitz is to take a picture of the horrifying living conditions. After taking this picture, someone would post it on social media along with some facts about the migrants living situation. After posting this, you would request that others repost and with that, hope the post will go viral.…

The concept of social media is great. There are many fantastic features, but only if used correctly. My sister, my three cousins, and I are all in high school or college now, but we still put our bunny ears on every year and run around my yard like lunatics searching for Easter-eggs. Two years ago on Instagram, I posted a picture of myself running around with a basket full of eggs. The funny things about the pictures are my gorilla-like posture and the serious face.…

In times like this all we can do is let them know that they are in our thought because nothing else will help. Another problem that arose with this situation as well is when people did not change their profile pictures they were automatically labeled as people that did not care. They were seen as insensitive people, in the article “Paris attacks: Social media mourning shouldn't be a blame game” by Radhika Sanghani, she says, “this collective social media reaction is more problematic than it looks. Those who don’t join in - or worse, say the 'wrong' thing - are criticized, and even bullied. ”(Sanghani 7).…

Reflective writing as a genre allows for a combination of personal reflection and critical thinking all intertwined into one. I turned my reflection essay into a new reflection that focused on a different level of the education system that would allow for me to reflect on my first semester of college to back up my allegations against the school system. When attempting to revise my essay in a new way I reread my old one and found an interesting theme screaming out of the paper. It was saying, “high school and Regents did not prepare me for college.” I took the idea a little further and expanded it to the SAT, that is a similar testing style to Regents, that similarly did not prepare me for college, and through research I found that income status…

When it comes to producing academic papers my writing style remains adaptive to meet the rhetorical context of a specific course. Meaning, my focus and attention is directed towards proper formatting, and writing a paper that engages a reader. My process involves narrowing in on a topic, gathering sources, free style writing, creating an outline, writing a draft, revisions, and then producing a final…

Social media is SOCIAL for a reason. If we are always thinking about how others view us, we are going to think about ourselves as the most important people in everyone’s life, we get trapped in this cycle of being obsessed with what others think about us. Of course they are a l w a y s thinking about us, what else do they have to do? In likewise, they think exactly the same of…

Furthermore, the hashtags that showcase moments of black excellence and prompt solidarity against racial injustice receive the greatest recognition and light. In considering the intentions and accomplishments of hashtags, it has been a matter of contention about whether or not hashtags can serve as a form of activism. For all of its convenience, social media hashtag activism (in general) has yet to fruitfully encourage the same respect and appreciation as that of demonstrative activism.…

Reflecting back on how my personal learning network has grown throughout the variety of roles I have held in public education, this assignment has helped me to realize that social networking tools have played a much bigger role in my professional learning than I had originally thought. As a whole my network seems to be a balance between print, digital and face-to-face interactions. Currently, I am a member of ASCD and enjoy getting their monthly publications and do take time to read the quarterly books that are sent. Professional reading has always been an enjoyment for me and seems to guide my digital searches. I enjoy Pinterest and searching Google images to see how other educators are putting the ideas I have read about into practice.…

My writing process coming into junior year was quite flawed and would go moderately like this: I would try and start with some hook that at least sounded like it related to the topic I was assigned. I then added a thesis that did not sound like total trash that included exactly what I planned to discuss. As I wrote the rest of my essays, I would sometimes realize there was something I felt added to the argument’s appeal, and after adding it to the body paragraphs, I summed it up in a couple words and squeezed it into my thesis. That was about the maximum amount of revising I would do for my essays. My decently crafted essays contained simple diction with a few SAT words I remembered while writing thrown in awkwardly.…

Before concluding this section, it is relevant to include a previous campaign that highlights the importance of social media coverage of widespread attention. Take for instance a wish from 5 year old Miles Scott, diagnosed with leukemia when he was only 18 months old, to save San Francisco as “Batkid”. This campaign was concentrated through Twitter, teamed up with Clever Girls Collective, a company that took on all the social media spread requirements, “with over 6,000 social media experts to spread the word for this event, the ball was really rolling before this event even took place.” (Grow 2014) Along with a clever hashtag #SFBatkid, Make-A-Wish reported 555,697 total tweets, 16,000 photos on Instagram, approximately 20,000 people attended the event, and Batkid was a topic of discussion in 117 countries around the world.…

The printing press gave society the ability to mass produce information like never before, increasing the knowledge of everyday citizens exponentially. With the introduction of the printing press, the mass-production of nearly identical books of high standard could now come at an affordable price, books were now easier to obtain and more available to the lower classes than they previously were. It is estimated that by 1500 there were “fifteen to twenty million copies of 30,000 to 35,000 separate publications.” (McLuhan, 1962, p.207). Another way by which communication has ultimately been influenced by our obsession with current events, the speed in which news travels and how quickly we’re informed.…
