When I attended college for the first time, I was an excellent writer. My professors would read my writings out loud as a good example of what they expected from the rest of the class. As it pertains to my writing, I believe that my strengths are possessing an active vocabulary and the ability to transition sentences. In contrast, my weaknesses are run-on sentences and using passive voice quotes. During the writing process, I use a thesaurus to build my vocabulary which helps transition one sentence to another. On the other hand, I struggle on run-on sentences because I’m not confident in my punctuation choice when it comes to ending or continuing phrases.

Being a student of GCU I have the privilege of using the Writing Process located in the Student Success Center. Case in point this tool provides a walkthrough on how to write a college paper from beginning to end which includes how to formulate an essay properly. An additional resource I can use to improve my writing is a tool name Grammarly. This device helps with spelling errors, overused words, and incorrect prepositions which are most helpful in the weakness of my writing. Overall it is my belief that repetition is the key to strengthening my writing skills because once you create a habit of proper writing, it’s hard to regress to old habits.

Throughout my life, I have written short stories for class, and I find the narrative style more useful to entertain readers compared to the other

When I first started the rhetoric, inquiry and critical writing course I was unaware of the specific flaws in my writing assignments. During this course not only did I figure out my own style of writing, but I also learned about other writing styles and how I could incorporate them into my own writing. The constructive criticism given by my peers and professor improved my way of writing. The hardest obstacle I had to face while writing was staying on topic. I gave too much information about a general topic instead of focusing on a small portion and brainstorming from there.…

I have learned that it is very important to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. An example of this is that I have become aware of my grammar and spelling errors as the semester progressed.…

Describe Yourself As A Writer I’ve come to realize that after years of writing papers, I’m actually a better writer than I give myself credit for. I’ve noticed over time that I’ve advanced in how I structure my paragraphs, however, not so much with my sentences. It’s like making a cake look delicious at first glance with frosting and decorations, but then you take a bite and there 's way too much sugar or it 's overcooked in the inside. My strength in writing includes: using better words to describe what I’m writing about, spelling complex words, creativity, and passion.…

I’m not confident with my ability to set up my paragraphs in essays because I can’t make my essays flow. My papers get very boring because I can be repetitive in my essays and I tend to lose focus on the purpose of the essay. In addition, my introductions are my weakest point because a paper can’t be strong without a strong introductory paragraph. I never learned any good ways to make a paper intriguing from the start and I think it can make my essays memorable.…
