As an agriculture teacher, I will often assign readings to my students to convey information and increase their understanding of certain concepts. Likely, I will have to deal with students like Cynthia in my classroom. One strategy I would use to help a student like Cynthia would be capitalize on her initial desire to be successful. The text mentioned that Cynthia had certain goals she wanted to reach during the school year such as improving her reading and writing skills. While goals are good for students to have, they also need understand the need to plan for how they are going to attain their goals. If I was Cynthia’s teacher, I would ask Cynthia about what steps she was going to take to improve her reading writing skills. I would then help Cynthia create a plan that would …show more content…
To do this, I would assign Cynthia to bring a list words for each assigned reading. These quizzes will, hopefully, encourage students like Cynthia to do their homework to prepare for the quizzes. If Cynthia does not do her homework, her grades may suffer, reducing the chances of her attaining her goals. In order to help her improve her writing skill, I would frequently ask her to bring a short written response to share with the rest of the class. During this time, I may also would students give feedback on each other’s responses to limit the amount of writing mistakes. The process of peer editing will help Cynthia see her most common mistakes and bad writing habits. While this process may be slightly unpleasant at first, peer editing will motivate her to do her best even if she is only trying to impress her friends. Finally, as the teacher, I would make sure to convey high expectations to all the students, including

Having to apply what I learned from each essay has really helped me a lot. By learning to use MLA style to have a better look throughout my essays, and fixing unnecessary semicolon and using commas when needed to avoid run on sentences or fragments, as well as eliminating to-be verbs for shorter more detailed sentence, and how to use work or words that aren't mine correctly to avoid plagiarism. From learning all those things, it has totally changed my way of writing because the way I used to go about my written, is not even close to how ENGL 101 changed me to being a better writer than I was before.…

I chose to revise the first and forth essay. I chose these because they are the shortest essays. I know you wanted me to revise my research essay because I did not have parenthetical citations, but during my writing center visit I asked about those and I learned where they should be and how they should look. When I revised my papers I tried to think about the questions someone else who is not familiar with the topics would ask about my papers and I answered them.…

At the beginning of the semester, I viewed myself as a creative writer. After attending this class I realized that there is a lot more that goes into writing an essay, or a research paper, than just creativity alone. I have learned that it is very important to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. An example of this is that I have become aware of my grammar and spelling errors as the semester progressed.…
