My Writing Scripts

Decent Essays
The way I express my creative side is different than most other peoples. While most people play an instrument or are artistically inclined, I prefer to write stories. Scripts is a better way to describe them. I often see videos on Youtube, Facebook, and other social media that show off the good in the world and shine a new light on the issues that we as a society are facing. These videos are what has inspired me to write scripts and hopefully one day I can turn them into one of these professionally made videos that have become so popular. At this point I am not happy enough with my writing to really show anyone besides some really close friends. Even my family does not know why I spend hours on the computer typing. “Chicago,” I said, as we drove past the Chicago Theatre. I read every word that my eyes could catch as we sped down the attractive streets of downtown Chicago. I was not sure where my driver was taking me, but I knew that I did not want to be in the car with this mean old woman anymore. She was my new caseworker, Ms. Jordan, and she was in charge of finding me a family. My old caseworker was Ms. Kelly, she was nice and she always made me feel loved.…

Writing would never be called my passion; however, if the topic of interest is thought-provoking, writing can be pleasurable. I have always been exceedingly critical of my writing, and I have a bad habit of producing your standard “five paragraph with five sentences” essay. High school was the true test of my writing skills, mainly because I had to take the ACT and SAT with writing if I wanted to get into the only Georgia school that I thought was up to par with my standards: The University of Georgia. Even though my teachers have considered me to be an acceptable writer, I have always considered myself rather subpar. This insecurity about my writing has haunted me throughout my life, and I have this feeling towards writing mainly…

I express my creativity through singing. For as long as my family and I can remember, I have loved to sing. In elementary school, I was always the shy and quiet type, but when I went to choir practice after school, I felt like I really belonged somewhere. But as much as I love to sing, I wasn't always good at it. At choir practice, I always sang as loud as I could, sometimes to the dismay of my choir director.…

When Mesopotamians carved their first words on walls, a new technology to communicate emerged to humans. Various civilizations that followed created a similar system of communicating and documenting everything from their thoughts, social structures, feelings, to their ideas. The Egyptians documented their journeys through Hieroglyphics. Mesoamericans documented theirs through Zapotic, Olmec and Mayan scriptures. These scriptures weren’t random scribbles by any means.…

Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

In Teaching for Joy and Justice renowned author Linda Christensen explore how to make student’s learning for reading and writing meaningful. She argues that in order for students to see purpose and meaning in their writing they must be assigned writing assignments that have real world application. In order for this to happen, the teacher must assign writing projects that allow students to share their writing with the world—having an authentic audience. For my project this week I decided to take this idea of having an authentic audience and placing that in the center of my student’s writing. I want my future students to not write for just the teacher, but to write for the world.…

I have never really been a strong writer. I feel like my writing always gets the point across but if the subject is not something that I know a lot about or am passionate about, then the organization is bad and the content is a lot of fluff and nothing else. My writing is strong in the amount of information I put into it, but lacks nice vocabulary and transition words or phrases. My writing can be very informative like in a research paper, report, or essay. When I know the information I can put it in a paper in a way that the reader can understand it easily.…

Furthermore, another element apart of my cultural identity is how I love to do art; a favorite passion of mine. Resembling every other artist, I use art to show emotions. Explaining things to people, especially emotions, is not something I do. Have you ever heard the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”, if so, who needs explaining, just draw it out. I wasn’t born an artist or particularly skilled at all, but I knew from a young age that talents are what set us apart from others and make us unique. In elementary and through middle school, I was encouraged by my teachers and parents to find my talent or interest. However, nothing genuinely interested me and I didn’t consider myself talented. Though I hadn’t found my talent ,by the start of middle school, if not earlier, the people close to me had found their talents or interests and they began to pursue it.…

I have always been more on the “imaginative” side. I like to draw and create things in my spare time. Additionally, I enjoy reading fiction, which is based solely on the imagination of others, and writing my own small works of fiction and poems. It’s not unusual for me as an adult to rely on creativity as a form of problem solving when I am confronted with certain scenarios at work, school, or my personal life.…
