In life, sometimes we are afraid to move forward for fear of failure. We hold ourselves back and instead of getting closer to our goals we stop ourselves. That can result in missing great opportunities, however, all we may need is a push to get rid of the fear so we may reach our full potential. Many children, who for the first time are learning how to ride a bike, start off with training wheels. They may have a parent, sibling, relative or friend there to help teach and guide them. Little by little they may develop the urge to ride the bike without training wheels. At first, they will fall, feel frustrated, and feel like giving up. Nevertheless, having someone who supports them and is there to offer a little push will motivate them to continue riding their bike. The moment they finally ride their bike without help will be a very rewarding and exciting moment. Using the analogy

This organization has helped me become a leader. When it came to working within a group in class I used to sit back and wait for someone to take lead. After joining Alpha Sigma Tau, I gained the confidence to take lead in group work. The organization gave me that push to reach my full potential and become a leader, not only within the organization but in my personal life as well. I held many positions within my organization and was always there to lend a hand. Through all the time, effort, and commitment I dedicated to my organization I was awarded the title of Top Tau. Top Tau is an award given to a member of the organization who embodies the values of the sorority, is an active member, a role model and has made a difference within the chapter. When I was afraid to take on leadership roles, my sisters were there to support and motivate me. They were that push I needed to fly and expand my wings.
