My Writing Reflection

Over this semester of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my weaknesses and strengths that I would need to work on in my writing. In this academic writing course, I got to assess my own strengths and weaknesses based on the trouble I had writing, feedback, and overall grades.
In all my years of school, I have always had trouble beginning an important paper. The longer it was, the more I procrastinated. The beginning was always the hardest part, once I really got started, it all started to come together.
I mainly had trouble with that assignment. As I was not really satisfied with my original grade, which was affected by my paper’s lack of cohesion,

I would want the introduction to flow and clearly start what I was talking about. This would not really work very well. Whenever I would write an introduction, it would never flow. It was always fairly choppy and I could not figure out how to smoothen it out.
With the position paper, I tried to be more creative with my introduction. This required much creativity and thought; how best can I pull the reader in? This was a lot more difficult than simply explaining what the paper was about.
I mostly worked making my points “full circle” with my use of evidence. Also, I tried to establish more a more logos- based argument in order to combat my use of a popular source in many parts of my argument with the use of scientific research. I expanded the types of arguments used, using more cause-and-effect forms of giving an outcome from what is already believed to be true like of Japan and the papaya. In addition to that, I worked on making a lot of my phrases simpler, shorter and easier to

With what I adjusted, I tried to make my writing less stiff and appeal to the reader more. I tried to make reading my work more interactive and engaging. I wanted that so the audience could react rather than reading off facts. I am most proud of the Digital Forum as I was able to find small ways (especially with the survey) to keep the audience engaged.
In addition to these, I have tried exposing my writing to more people for feedback. If I do not spend long on a piece, I often overlook small typos or grammatical issues. I do not craft my words quite as carefully as I should. I also tend to be quite repetitive. I tried to have as many people as I could read over my writing having someone do that can highlight these issues and help me clean up my work. For instance, I provided more perspectives of the scholars to break down the problem of “fake news”. As I moved on to my final draft of the HCP, I was able to use more specific questions such as “In what ways do fake news impact politics and society” (Figure-3). I did not only use questions in the abstract, but I also used them throughout the paper as guiding questions and transitions. When comparing all of my drafts, there was a significant improvement on the structure of my paper and the way that I state my arguments. I was also more familiar with the technical…

I almost never know how to start a essay and it’s introduction, and this time is no different. So far I have sat in front of my computer and procrastinated for about two hours. The introduction is a difficult thing to write, so naturally I tend to wing it like most of my essays. I tend to write around midnight, it’s very quiet around the house and the outdoors…

In my second OP I had many ideas I wanted to express, and put a lot of thought into the topic I chose to write about, but I also failed to focus my writing, and didn’t expand on certain ideas. When I did go into detail about certain topics I was able utilize good imagery, but at the end of my paper I had to rush to include ideas at the end and didn’t do them the proper justice. At the beginning of the OP I used thorough detail to set the scene of my bedroom and describe the situation which sparked the entire story, by saying “Annoyed, I reached across my desk, disregarding the unreasonable amount of clutter covering it. With a crash, and an explosion of color, an unidentified object fell to the ground, breaking apart and flying in every direction.”…

Over the Semester my writing has improved immensely in comparison to my previous years of literature. Before ninth grade, I would use an abounding amount of simple words like “very” or “because”. In ninth grade on the other hand I have started to and continue to use words and phrases like “exceedingly” and “due to the fact.” This presents improvement in my writing because using words like exceedingly is evidence that the writer is a higher level writer due to the fact that it is a complex word. Another example of advancement in my writing is the amount of transitions I put in my writing.…

Through out the semester my writing has improved greatly. Through out the first paper I discovered I enjoyed writing about events I’ve attended and giving a rhetorical stance about the things that occur at these events. Critical reflection Reflecting back on what I have learnt about myself as a writer is that it is okay to be aware of your weaknesses and using the necessary tools to support and strengthen them. As a writer it is good to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with new genres. Let your writing take you on an emotional journey, and let your emotions lead your writing into a new journey. As a writer you need to expand your vocabulary and use powerful descriptive words to really create a mental image for your readers. I have learnt to understand the importance of sentence structure, drafting, and proof reading and not over using commas creating sentences that are too long.…
