Quoting and citing material from sources not only strengthens our argument but seals it. It shows the impact and large deal of emotion that you feel when arguing/debating a topic. In class discussions, we are able to work with the people beside us and pursue topics that not everyone will agree on. When participating in these type of activities, you pick up new skills and new ways to counter ideas. These ideas/skills allowed me to implement new aspects into my essay. These new skills also affected the way I conduct my writing process. Instead of relying so heavily on pure emotions and verbiage in arguments, I leaned more towards a mixture of my ideas and a factually based approach. We follow the meticulous process of creating an outline or web every time we assess an essay or brainstorm ideas. So why do what we do? As writers, our process oscillates depending on the type of assignment we receive. During the initial creation of my evaluation essay i found that i had to change my process multiple times. I had to figure out how to execute certain strategies and learn from my mistakes. The in-class activities allowed for me to learn these new skills from peers and implement them into my new writing process. Being able to counter the opposition’s point of view with my stance and the help of an outside source enabled me to create a second draft and strengthened my position. Goals for writers are endless and the skills i have learned so far in this class prove
