Usually I’ll just sit down, and think of a really interesting intro the will attract the reader to my piece. When it’s all said and done, I make sure that the thesis statement is placed towards the end to explain to the reader what my story is going to be about. Most of the time I don’t usually trust my colleagues with reading my paper because they usually carry the same amount of education that I do, and most of the time they tend to make the same mistakes that affect me when I receive my paper back. Safely I take the secure route and make sure to take it to a professional for they can revise it themselves, and critique me on my errors. They revise well all the wrongs that I wasn’t able to spot for my yourself. I listen very closely to what they have to say thus it helps immensely to perfect the essay. Usually the errors they find are going to be things that usually I don’t expect to be there because my lack of experience on writing papers. The errors tend to be words that sound exactly like the ones that I’m trying to sound out, but they’re not the same ones that I’m thinking of. After wards I make the corrections that they proposed, I revise the new corrections and make sure that they make sense with my paper. I interview Ashleigh Zoller at Shasta County Health and Human Services. The first question I asked her was how do you proofread and edit your work? She answered that before any mail or correspondence goes out of the office everything goes through the spell check through the computer and if there’s anything wrong we correct the errors and still re read everything. To determine that everything is correct and the right codes, regulations, names, emails, and return addresses. If we are unsure of anything such as the reading, we will print it out to give to coworker to read and look it over to verify everything is correct then we will save the document and mail it out.…

I am able to continue improving on many aspects of my writing, but each time I finish an essay, I realize how much more efficient the process has become for me. In this analysis, I will explain my assertions and assess the things I have done well, along with the aspects I can continue to improve on for the next time. When it comes to producing academic papers my writing style remains adaptive to meet the rhetorical context of a specific course. Meaning, my focus and attention is directed towards proper formatting, and writing a paper that engages a reader. I can look over a paper time and time again but there will still be errors that I miss. It is really helpful to have an extra set of eyes to review my papers, but there isn’t always someone who is available to do that. Paperrater.com is a great resource that I have found. All I did was upload my Rhetorical Analysis paper and it showed me the mistakes I had made. It also graded my paper a “B” and told me different areas I needed to improve.…

I knew my thesis would be one of the most important parts of my essay. My thesis statement would clearly show the view of my essay. This is important because the reader needed to know how my essay was going to prove my position on the topic. After I completed my thesis statement, I began writing my introduction. I created the introduction such a way that it would capture the reader's interest.…

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

How to Write with Style Everyone has his or her own writing style, and some writing styles are considerably more distinct than others; however, anyone’s writing style can and should be improved over time. There really is no one specific or perfect way to write because everyone has different opinions on what is well written and what is poorly written, so it is important to alter one’s style so as to capture the attention of very different audiences. Kurt Vonnegut, an amazingly talented author from the 20th century, wrote an essay entitled “How to Write with Style” which gives excellent techniques on how to better anyone’s writing style. Each of his techniques has an explanation as to why they should be used, and he uses each of them in his essay.…

According to Robert Lane Greene, “Every office has at least one person who proof-reads with extra zeal, striking out between you and I with three slashes of the pen rather than the requisite one. After establishing a reputation, this stickler becomes someone colleagues timidly ask, “Can you check this…?"(99). before sending out a note to clients.” This clarifies how much time a company spends checking any grammar issue with a significant paper before sending it to the clients. And grammar plays a huge role in the workplace, one mistake can affect the whole company’s reputation.…

Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject. Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay.…

I love the fact that the papers we wrote throughout the semester, we are able to revised them and just notice the careless mistakes we obviously did not notice while writing the paper. Revision is an effective way to show someone the mistakes they made throughout their papers because sometimes when you look at your grade you receive and the feedback you received, you tend to feel like the way he/she grades is incorrect. Throughout English 101, I have learned many rhetorical analysis strategies, the effectiveness of using appeals to attract a specific audience, citing credible sources and knowing which source is credible, etc. I always receive positive feedback but then I receive things I should improve to make my paper more effective on the next unit…
