My Writing Experience

Writing is one of the many important skills in every student’s life. It is a form of communication because it lets an individual deliver the message with simplicity and in a written form. I clearly remember that when I was a kid, I used to get very excited when I was going to learn something new. The earliest experience I can remember about writing is when I was five years old and I had to learn how to write in Bengali and English.
I remember my first day of school in Bangladesh; I was just a little kid with so much excitement going to school for the first time in life. I know it sounds little strange, but I was excited to go to school. Learning how to write for the first time can be exciting, but can also be hard at the same time. My mother was the one who taught me how to write the alphabets in Bengali. She would hold my hand and teach me how to shape the letters. Sometimes, I would not pay attention and my mother will yell at me. Moreover, she would not let me go out to play with my friends if I did not do my writing in a proper way.

In Bangladesh, English is not our first language, but students are still required to learn it. I was not very good in English alphabets when I started learning it therefore, I also a hard time to memorize the spelling of the words. I still remember those days, when my teacher will give some vocabulary words to memorize and then write some sentences out of them. However, if a student could not do it properly, he or she would get in a big trouble. The teacher will punish the student by hitting them with a wooden stick. I, personally, have experienced them myself too, but it makes me laugh whenever I think about

The writing process is both complex and interesting at the same time. There are many ways to write and the process is different for everyone. In this essay, I will explain my found writing process and analyze my process alongside Peter Elbow’s Teaching Thinking by Teaching Writing, Alvarez’s Writing Matters, and Stafford’s A Way of Writing. It is generally thought that writing is an activity, which is conducted individually, often with feedback provided by a teacher and/or a classmate. The videos and reading clearly demonstrate the advantages of collaborative writing. It provides learners with opportunities to learn and advance their writing skills through a discussion of the language they are using. By collaborating and following the guide of the teacher, students improve their language skills and advance far more than if they did with their own pen and…

Behind the Scenes of Letters and Words We live in a generation that relies on texting, instant messaging and social media to communicate. None of which require the proper necessities when actually writing but instead consist of abbreviation, misspelled words, lack of punctuation and the list could go on. The thought of writing and reading going extinct one day is a very scary view and something we should never let happen. Writing has great significance and value behind it with many different reasons for why it is so important.…

As a future teacher I had my mindset of changing the lives of countless students. As students pass through my classroom they will learn to use language in many ways and apply this knowledge in many areas of life. The manipulation of language is a skill that has to be developed over time. Students write in every subject, with that said, writing should be the skill they constantly develop. Writing is a powerful instrument in which a writer imagines the audience, sets goals, call upon others to prove a point, draft and revise the text.…

I feel that writing is a good subject to be familiar and practicing in frequently, it is a necessary tool to communicate properly. Although, if I were to be truthful I’d have to say that I am not the biggest fan of it due to the fact that it bores me and I have trouble figuring out what to say. So I find it hard to enjoy writing because most of the time I am just struggling to concentrate because I don’t have much more to say about a topic. Recently, since I have not been in school for a while, I have found myself forgetting rules to the English language in my everyday speech so I find it to be useful. This has influenced how I feel about writing because the more I write, the more easily I can remember to use these rules in my daily…

It takes a lot of hard work for a person to be able to write, let alone be able to write something that would be deemed spectacular by their peers. While some are born literature prodigies, with the ability to sit down at their desk and type up a beautiful novel like there’s no tomorrow, the rest of the world is either left to endure the long process of working up to such a level or to suffer from a lack of what I like to call “composition inspiration.” For the longest time, I was a member of the latter group, and, until I finally found my creativity stranded deep inside myself, I thought that I was doomed to remain stuck in a mundane limbo. In a past version of me, perhaps five to seven years old with a straight blonde bob that tickled my chin and a smile that lit up a dark classroom, I loved learning about subjects such as math and science, but I had always dreaded writing.…

My experience as a writer has changed throughout the years a lot. Someone always read to my sisters and myself when we asked. Even when they did not read to us, I can remember them reading around us, like when we were on vacation. My parents also got us in reading summer programs through the local library. My boyfriend and I have a daughter who is now ten months old, we try to read to her whenever we can.…

Growing up I was never a big fan of books or writing. I would cringe whenever I was given assignments to read a book that I would have to write an essay on, and always looked for a way to get out of it. I remember doing general research on a book rather than taking the time to read it. I think I continued to stay this way until about ten years ago, when I began to write reports while serving in the military. I started to learn that it was more of an art form rather than just putting my ideas down on a piece of paper.…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…

“Comparison and Contrast Essay: High School vs. Collage." I prefer to do this essay as a general contrast of specific topic: Writing is a very important aspect of people’s lives since this is one form of communicating with other people. It does not only enable you to communicate with other people that are far away but also enables you to express your thoughts and emotions through pen and paper. When you practice writing through writing activities, this drastically improves your English writing skills for the reason that I believe in a saying that says, “Practice makes perfect”. High school, as well as college, is just another part of everyone’s lives.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…

As a future educator I do not what this to happen to my students. Many people think history is just reading about the past and memorizing facts. History is totally contrary to this belief, it is about critical thinking, problem solving, and trying to relate to other people, both in the past and people of different cultures. In essence, it is about connectedness, how everything connects together and how one thing is effected by another. However, many students don’t feel this way.…
