My siblings and I received a desktop computer
My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…
I have learned about my writing process that I like to be creative when I write. I also like my essays to be organize before I write, so I know exactly what to write about. I believe I am strongest at freestyle writing. I like to jump in and just start writing. Even if I don’t always know what to write, I can usually come up with something.…
My writing experience in and out of school has almost always been seen exactly the same. It’s work, you do it for the grade and for some you suffer the entire time. On the occasional paper, usually one with no restrictions and you choose your subject, I find myself in a love and hate relationship with it. The fact being that writing papers has almost always been seen as homework for me. Have your paper done by this day, it needs to be this many words, and no grammatical errors just isn’t something I’d find myself getting hyped for every saturday night.…
I chose to revise the first and forth essay. I chose these because they are the shortest essays. I know you wanted me to revise my research essay because I did not have parenthetical citations, but during my writing center visit I asked about those and I learned where they should be and how they should look. When I revised my papers I tried to think about the questions someone else who is not familiar with the topics would ask about my papers and I answered them.…
As you requested, I am writing to share my past writing experiences which include what kinds of writing I have done in school, the feedback that I seek on my work before I turn in assignments, the memories that I have of writing, voluntary writing I have done, and much more. Past Experiences with Writing Previous to this course I have taken several mandatory English, Writing, and Literature courses in which I have gained experience that now impact the way I write. In high school, I took my basic English & Writing courses, along with an Advanced Placement English IV course, in which the teacher persuaded me to join the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and compete in the Ready Writing Competition, in which I won first place in the…
Writing has impacted my life and allowed me to look at books differently. After realizing all the work and effort that went into creating an elaborate story, I gained a better appreciation for how much authors do in order to present such amazing stories. I feel that I have a vast amount of respect for writers, but I also feel that writing is a chore and I tend to shy away from it. I have had some amazing English teachers that have really helped me grasp certain aspects of the writing process.…
For eighteen years, I have roamed this earth, and for thirteen of those years I have been able to harness my craft in writing. As I look back on those times, I see how much I have improved. I learned that I despised word count essays and loved creative writing assignments. My literacy journey began in kindergarten where they taught us how to write out the alphabet, my name, and simple sentences. I don’t remember everything that about my time in kindergarten, but I do remember how frustrated I was trying to write out my name.…
Whether it was a newspaper, book, or magazine they always had something up to their faces. They purchased a lot of books for me and would have me to read one a week. This helped strengthen my comprehension skills and also my ability to write. Because of reading so well, I now love to write. When I was in second grade my teacher, Mrs. Ross, set a specific time for us to read every day.…
By looking back at my writing experiences, I can tell that writing does not come naturally to me and find it to be a real challenge. I may think I did well while writing but in reality I did horrible. It takes me a while to write a paper then other people and there tends to be plenty of problems that try to slow me down. One of the hardest problems I have while writing is trying to find the right words to say. Every time I write I always take longer than anyone else because I always second guess what I just wrote and have to rewrite what I am trying to say.…
As of 2018 my writing skills have increased and the types of writing I like have become more clear. However, of course as an 8th grader I have a lot to work on when it comes to writing, chances are you have already found a few mistakes in this paragraph. When it comes to what kinds of writing I have come to like, I have to groups, the writing I like to read and the writing that I find fun to write. In the ”fun to write” category I would place argumentative, and my favorite type of writing to read is narrative. Some of the areas in writing I could work on include but are not limited to, sentence fluency and organization.…
Writing has affected my life in a good way. It allows me to express my thoughts and opinions with the reader. Writing is a powerful thing because you have the power at your fingertips to encourage someone. Being self-conscious since I was young I have always felt awkward while speaking in front of people so it’s more comfortable for to me to communicate with…
All people have life experiences which influence their understanding of reading and writing. Some of them turn out to have a great impact on the world such as Sigmund Freud- who published a multitude of books developing our understanding of psychology, or Shakespeare- who has widely shaped drama writing and even the English language. I too have a considerable amount of experiences that shaped my writing, not enough to change the world, but enough to where I could share with you the ones that influenced me the most. My first experience was in my childhood.…
To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
As we all know, the final Unit assignment is a personal reflection about what I’ve learned and who I am as a writer. In my opinion, only talking about everything I learned can be really a boring thing, I prefer to talk more about myself, my changes throughout the semester. After all, most of people like biographies much more than academic reports. You should know, readers, as a writer, I have an obvious difference from others. I’m an international student, come from China.…
If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…
