My Writing Experience

All people have life experiences which influence their understanding of reading and writing. Some of them turn out to have a great impact on the world such as Sigmund Freud- who published a multitude of books developing our understanding of psychology, or Shakespeare- who has widely shaped drama writing and even the English language. I too have a considerable amount of experiences that shaped my writing, not enough to change the world, but enough to where I could share with you the ones that influenced me the most.
My first experience was in my childhood. My uncle is a very smart man and he knows a lot in mechanical engineering, but before my uncle studied to be an engineer he was studying to be an English professor. Reading and writing greatly

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

My writing experience in and out of school has almost always been seen exactly the same. It’s work, you do it for the grade and for some you suffer the entire time. On the occasional paper, usually one with no restrictions and you choose your subject, I find myself in a love and hate relationship with it. The fact being that writing papers has almost always been seen as homework for me. Have your paper done by this day, it needs to be this many words, and no grammatical errors just isn’t something I’d find myself getting hyped for every saturday night.…

As you requested, I am writing to share my past writing experiences which include what kinds of writing I have done in school, the feedback that I seek on my work before I turn in assignments, the memories that I have of writing, voluntary writing I have done, and much more. Past Experiences with Writing Previous to this course I have taken several mandatory English, Writing, and Literature courses in which I have gained experience that now impact the way I write. In high school, I took my basic English & Writing courses, along with an Advanced Placement English IV course, in which the teacher persuaded me to join the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and compete in the Ready Writing Competition, in which I won first place in the…

Writing is an art; we create our thoughts in your mind and express it on paper. Once we start writing we keep getting new ideas and when we re-read what we wrote, sometimes it might surprise us. I like to write during early mornings or in the evening when it is quiet. My reading table is facing towards the window so when fresh air is in my room, fresh ideas generate inside me as well. I make sure to have some healthy snacks and a bottle of water in front me…

Although my history as a writer is not very long, considering i am only fifteen, I believe it has definitely impacted the way I perceive writing and literature. The main pieces that stuck out to me are a creative writing assignment in first grade, a research paper in fourth grade, a creative writing assignment again in fourth grade, and personal writing piece I wrote in fourth grade, and a biography I wrote in 9th grade. Whether these pieces negatively or positively affected me I think they definitely affected the way I look at writing. The first writing piece I remember, that I liked, was in the first grade.…

For eighteen years, I have roamed this earth, and for thirteen of those years I have been able to harness my craft in writing. As I look back on those times, I see how much I have improved. I learned that I despised word count essays and loved creative writing assignments. My literacy journey began in kindergarten where they taught us how to write out the alphabet, my name, and simple sentences. I don’t remember everything that about my time in kindergarten, but I do remember how frustrated I was trying to write out my name.…

I would say I have a neutral opinion on English classes. Some days I like them, and some days I dread the time when I have to go home and write another really long essay. My writing process has always been about the same from year to year because I tend to do very well on most of them. I have really enjoyed reading books and plays in class, and I hope we can do that in the future.…

Life is a learning process, you can only learn so much through observation. I firmly believe learning is done best through personal experience and hands on work. My first semester of english in university has certainly been a learning process. Through three essays, all of which have pertained to be analysis papers, I feel that I have honed and bettered my writing skills. These skills were sharpened by my writing process, peer and teacher review sessions, and my revision process, which has shown me I have a strong writing style.…

Ever since I can remember I have been drawn to writing. Just ask my parents, when presented with puzzles as a 2 year old (one with letters the other with numbers) I would pick the letters every time. My academic interests have always been slanted toward reading and language arts. Throughout High School I sought out as many english and writing classes I could find which, unfortunately, in my school was not very many.…

I had always assumed that my talents in relation to writing had a relatively mediocre limit, a “glass ceiling” of sorts. All my early literary efforts resulted in collapse and a greater distaste for writing. For me, writing was like trying to catch sand slipping through my fingers: never attainable. I remember a much smaller version of myself sitting down with a freshly sharpened pencil, extra-wide lined paper, and leave engulfed in eraser shavings. The beginning of the story would always start off promising, but no longer than twenty minutes into writing, I would realize that my story had no conceivable ending and needed to be immediately shredded.…

This week’s material on self-authorship is probably my favorite of all of the theories we have talked about so far. I just find this to be the most important job we have as student affairs professionals. The biggest challenges that I see today in my work with students is that they struggle with taking on responsibility and following through on their own actions. They often look for others to give them direction instead of taking charge of their own future.…

For some people, writing is difficult and it can become stressful to write about topics you have no interest about; for me it’s the contrary, I have always had good fluency when it comes to write about any topic, even if it doesn’t interest me, this is mainly because I take it as a new challenge or an opportunity to have a more in deep look about the certain topic; I use this not only for writing but every time I get tasked with something new, for example back when I was in the marine recruit training more commonly known has boot camp, it’s a requirement to learn how to shoot a rifle with outstanding accuracy, for me this was something completely new since I had never held a rifle before and it hadn’t really caught my attention until…
