Since starting English class this year I have felt that I have grown in many different areas of writing. I have found that I can make my writing flow better then I use to be able too. When someone peer edits your paper, they find mistakes that you would of read over each time you went to proofread your work. I believe it also good to not lock your mind from other ideas. I have also learned and demonstrated that I am capable of producing well written papers and essays In the past four years the areas of writing that I have been the most successful in are essays because I can quickly write on the topic, then compared to my ability to write with nothing to start off of. But over the past four years my ability has significantly increased, I have gone from starting sentences with the same word consistently, and making punctuation errors to making very few. I also had errors in my citations, explanations, and the amount of times that…

With each new assignment I started to learn more about writing, and about my writing style. I began to embrace the process that I go through when I write. My attitude towards writing was changing quickly. Murray points out “Every writer goes to the writing desk with a set of assumptions that may make the writing difficult or easy” (86). It’s amazing how much your attitude towards something can effect it, and how the slightest change in that attitude can make a task that was once difficult into something you look forward to…

The Writing Life Annie Dillard’s, The Writing Life, gives the aspiring writer bits and pieces of her own experience to help fuel the creative process an eager learner needs to get their own desires from literature onto paper. With frankness, Dillard gives advice on how one should begin to write, revealing an insight into the reality of the beautiful yet difficult process of the written word. One piece of advice is simply just to write down anything and everything. Without putting yourself out there on that sheet of paper, your writing will go nowhere. For some people, writing is difficult and it can become stressful to write about topics you have no interest about; for me it’s the contrary, I have always had good fluency when it comes to write about any topic, even if it doesn’t interest me, this is mainly because I take it as a new challenge or an opportunity to have a more in deep look about the certain topic; I use this not only for writing but every time I get tasked with something new, for example back when I was in the marine recruit training more commonly known has boot camp, it’s a requirement to learn how to shoot a rifle with outstanding accuracy, for me this was something completely new since I had never held a rifle before and it hadn’t really caught my attention until…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…

Throughout most of middle school and the beginning of high school, I was a very factual person. I mostly read books that were informational and it was rather rare to see me in the fiction section of a library. Even when I was very little, I was more interested in watching a documentary than your standard kid’s show. So, in the tenth grade, when I had to take a creative writing class, I was not very excited about it.…
