My Writing Assignment

The essay I was assigned to write was an illustrated essay. I never heard of an illustrated essay before but I kind of had an idea of what it was about. After reading the two reading examples that were provided in essay number one. I got an idea of what I’m supposed to do. I spent hours trying to come up with what should I write about? At first I considered writing about how traveling educated me. I couldn’t come up with good examples. I started brain storming until I came up with a couple more topics to write about. My examples were very deep that I forgot to give the reader transitions. I think I’ve learned the most important thing about this writing assignment which was sensory details and multiple of examples. Although I had good examples my transitioning from an example to another wasn’t there. The readers were stuck in one example and I switched to another without providing the transition. I waited until the morning before class to do the editing on my paper. I think if I would’ve spent more time editing my paper it could have been better. …show more content…
My sensory details were really descriptive. The visuals that were provided throughout the essay were different. The feedback I received from the readers were “I could see where you were” and “I can picture that”. Those comments I received showed me that I’ve done great in painting pictures in my readers head. I’ve engaged my readers and got their full attention. I’ve managed to use descriptive details in all of my examples. Also, all of my examples were related to thesis statement. It took me a long time to come up with a good thesis that was connected to all of my

For this artifact, we had to analyze Wendy Guerra’s 2006 young adult novel Everyone Leaves. Before completing this essay, we learned about various concepts related to the novel, including the bildungsroman genre (which is closely related to the coming-of-age genre except it explains a character’s maturity after a dramatic event in their life) and the author’s hometown of Cuba. We then brainstormed different themes for the book, which were related to the essential questions of this artifact: “Why do people leave?” and “Why do people stay?” I think Mr. Smith assigned this artifact to demonstrate how literature not only connects to history, but also helps us not to repeat it.…

I never considered myself to be an excellent writer but still thought I wrote well enough to get my point across without confusing the reader too much. However, any confidence that I had in my writing skills was lost for a short time when I had to write my first timed essay in school. Luckily, the timed essay assignment also helped me see that I needed to work on my writing and, as a result, actually turned out to be a more positive experience rather than a negative one. It was just another regular school day that was near its end, and I had one more class to go to before everyone was released to go home.…

When I think of creating a research paper I worry that I will not use enough words to get my point across. Before starting at Belhaven my emails were anything but detailed and at least once a week I was reminded to use more words. With each class, I learn more tools that will help me with my writing. OP Reflection Essay

In my second OP I had many ideas I wanted to express, and put a lot of thought into the topic I chose to write about, but I also failed to focus my writing, and didn’t expand on certain ideas. When I did go into detail about certain topics I was able utilize good imagery, but at the end of my paper I had to rush to include ideas at the end and didn’t do them the proper justice. At the beginning of the OP I used thorough detail to set the scene of my bedroom and describe the situation which sparked the entire story, by saying “Annoyed, I reached across my desk, disregarding the unreasonable amount of clutter covering it. With a crash, and an explosion of color, an unidentified object fell to the ground, breaking apart and flying in every direction.”…

My senior project is about how music affects the brain in a positive matter especially those that have diseases. I chose this project because I listen to music all the time, it became a part of my life. My idea for service learning was to see how music affects people that have dementia. My mentors were Amadee Castenell, Laetitia Brundage and Alison Albino. I spent ten hours observing them on what they did and how the residents of the homes that they went to reacted to the music and activities that the music therapists did.…
