Throughout the semester of English Composition I, I learned any new things. Over the past few months I have learned many new tips on how to create a good paper. Although I gained much knowledge over the past few months I did struggle with a few things such as formulating a written thesis statement expressing my main point in the composition, producing rough drafts preliminary to the final draft, applying transition strategies to organize the entire composition cohesively and coherently, and overall practicing various prewriting strategies, such as thinking, brainstorming, listing, and freewriting.…

My college essay writing process was fairly simple. I thought of possible topics over time, such as my experiences going to Colombia, baptism, my passions, etc. After reading an article on writing college essays, I began brainstorming ideas of what I could write, and it all seemed to simply flow. As I was brainstorming, I quickly wrote down all of my ideas. From this time I knew that I wanted to write about my experiences going to Colombia.…

May 8, 2017 was the first day of college for me after being out of high school for 18 years. I am attempting to pursue a nursing degree and I am required to take 8 pre-requisites before I can apply to the nursing program. I decided to take English 111 first but only because that is what my advisor suggested. I have never liked reading or writing and therefore was not looking forward to taking this class. Additionaly, this semester was like a rollercoaster because Mrs. Patrick had to condense 16 weeks of work into 8 weeks because of the summer semester being shorter than the fall and spring semesters.…

Over the course of this semester I learned a handful of things about myself as a writer, that will help me develop as a more proficient writer over the course of my four years here. As a writer one of my strengths is backing up my argument with solid and concrete evidence that truly makes the reader believe what they are reading. Another area of my writing that I excel in is being able to process great ideas that follow the guidelines and the prompt. With that being said I have also seen that while the ideas may come with ease, I do have a challenging time with getting the ideas from my head onto paper in a manner that isn’t so disorganized that it makes the reader second guess themselves. Another shaky part of my writing comes much before the actual forming of sentences.…
