I adapted to college well, I had many questions, maybe too shy to ask, but I did what I could and had to do to make it successful as it could be. One day I got an email from the international advisor regarding on-campus employment as a “Maverick Leader” and applied. I got the job and started working in November 2012, and my entire college experience changed. I also learned about Phi Theta Kappa and their benefits and became a member in April 2013.
The Maverick Leader program, which is similar to being an Ambassador on campus, provided me with the knowledge about what college has to offer; career exploring, tutoring, campus life, involvement, clubs/organizations & sports. This position proved that college life is be more fun and offers more opportunities to be successful. I was also the star of the month, twice.
