My Work Ethic

I decided that becoming a special needs teacher is my calling in life. I have worked to gain experience and learned many helpful skills that will enhance my worth as a teacher. I am a good candidate for EEP because I help students learn in the way that works best for them, I have a good work ethic, and I am dedicated to all learners. I have been given the privilege to work with children of all ages using many different outlets that allowed students to learn in the best way possible. One of those opportunities is a children’s church program called worship and wonder. Students hear a story from the Bible while seeing the story being told by wooden blocks. They are then given the option to respond to the story using either craft supplies or …show more content…
The activity I am speaking of is The Pride of Dixie Marching Band. This organization stresses many things, one of the major points is professionalism. This program has added a higher sense of professional behavior in the way I live my life. It has also added an amount of urgency about starting things on time and working the hardest you can in order to produce the greatest outcome. I also worked as a swim instructor in 2014. This job required collaboration with other instructors to come up with better ways to convey swim technique. For example, I had a student who was bending their legs which was causing their feet to sink. I asked my coworkers if they had any suggestions to help this student. The advice they gave was, “Tell them to keep their legs like Barbie”. I tried this and it worked wonderfully. This student may not have succeeded if it was not for collaboration. Professionalism and collaboration are two major parts of work ethic, and I believe they will give me a great advantage in the field of …show more content…
I have worked with my brother, who has autism and did not speak until about the age of seven. To help him tap into his potential, he was allowed to get on the family computer. We soon learned he could type his name along with other words. This was a huge step in his development that would not have happened without the use of technology and the persistence of those who loved him. Another time I have shown dedication to all learners was when I participated in the Special Olympics. I began volunteering for this organization and fell in love instantly. I began working with a young lady named Ashley. She cannot speak and made her own version of sign language. I learned to communicate with her and became her translator and unified partner. As a unified partner, I worked to get her swimming as fast and efficiently as she could. As the season came to an end I reflected on the experience and decided special education was the place for

Work Ethic Work ethic is something that is very important to have, when one has a job. Work ethic is how one works, and also how one does at the job they are doing. I have a couple of reasons of why Work ethic is important, and how it helps us in life. First thing, work ethic gets one noticed more than the average person. If one works hard, and gives it his or hers best, he or she will get promotions or extra pay.…

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

In elementary school, I participated in my school's Best Buddies program, where students spent one day a week hanging out with students with special needs. My time at Best Buddies quickly became my favorite part of each week. Throughout middle school, I continued my involvement in special education by spending time at Ready, Set, Ride!, a horse ranch with adaptive equipment designed to enable children with special needs to mount and ride horses. This program inspired my desire to be involved in special education programs. For the past two years, I have continued to fulfill my passion for special education by planning and attending monthly socials for adults with special needs, hosted by the Western Dupage Special Recreational Association (WDSRA).…

I noticed despite their diagnosis it never prevented us from creating bonds and becoming friends. It was a natural step for me to begin volunteering with the Special Olympics. I was not sure what to expect when I started going to the sporting events.…

“Retard- delay or hold back in terms of progress, development, or accomplishment.” This word is used way to often to describe a person who is not mentally or physically handicapped. I used to tell people “you’re a retard” or “you’re retarded” when I was younger and didn’t understand what this word meant. The older I got the more brutal and hurtful I realised this word was. I have a good friend whose brother has assburger’s syndrome, his name is JD. When I met JD I realised that he was just like other kids except he learned a lot slower, but he was still extremely intelligent.…

While working as a tutor at Kumon, I had the opportunity to interact with students from a wide array of educational backgrounds. Working with children not only broadened my ability to teach and communicate with others, but also helped me relate and empathize with them as their mentor. Working as a tutor helped develop my self-confidence, as I felt that I was making a difference in the academic lives of the students that I interacted with. In the same way that I view my lab mentor, Patricia G. Cipriani, as a figure of guidance, the students that I worked with viewed me as a figure of support whenever they needed help. Being the tutor, rather than the student, helped me develop perspectives on the role a mentor, or teacher, plays in a student's career.…
