My Work Ethic Research

Both my mother and father have been working since they were kids to establish a better life in the U.S. that was worth living and furthermore changing the lives of their children. Because of their motivation to succeed, the mindset of hard work has been distilled in me. My work ethic distinguishes me from others due to the fact that I exceed expectations. The fact that their background environment helped motivate them to succeed and not wanting their children to experience the same path is why my parents are my motivation. Every family has their own definition of what “work ethic” really is due to the family background but the difference that defies strong work ethic is when good enough doesn’t satisfy you. As kids my father would take my brother and myself to work with him after school and weekends instead of leaving us at home to watching television and be lazy. Being young children we didn’t acknowledge the fact that my father was helping us shape our futures. The work ethic he showed both of us will never be forgotten. I have one brother and two sisters and the pressure is on myself since I am the oldest. I chose to join the workforce in construction after high school instead of continuing my education. At the time, my financial status only allowed me to pick one option and I chose to pick a roof over my head. It is that same work ethic my parents distilled in us at kids that has help my promotion to supervisor but I wasn’t feeling complete. Now that I accomplished many goals in the workforce, and stable enough I have decided to open the books and continue and complete my education. My brother and I have a close relationship, so when he decided to join the navy I felt proud yet unaccomplished. Knowing he is serving and doing something to change the world, is increasing not only my drive to succeed but also helping me question myself on how to become a better
