Personal Narrative: My Window

Improved Essays
My window is too small now. I used to be able to fit through it, but the cardboard and tape covering up the hole make it so I can’t leave anymore. The tape is too sticky to be quiet when ripped off, and that would wake Cassey up, and then she would yell at me. The cardboard is too chunky to not bend if I try to take it off from the inside. She would surely notice the difference, even if I was extra careful when putting it back. Yes, if I removed them, I would definitely be in trouble. Which is understandable; Cassey worked so hard to cover up the big hole. Renting a ladder would have obstructed the door of the business below us, so she had to shimmy up the drainpipe and crawl out onto the little ledge that separated apartment and store. I couldn’t go out with her as I was too tired, but I still helped by passing her the roll of tape once she was outside. …show more content…
It was a big casement-style window, with a single large pane that opened like a door. Unfortunately, the window’s latch — a metal Andersen latch — seemed to have been rusted over for years, making it impossible to open the window. The bottom half of it had been destroyed, most likely by the previous owner. The hole they had left was the perfect size for me to crawl through. I used it often as a quick path down to the streets. It was my main route for “midnight walks”, which have been my personal tradition for many years, though they never actually seem to happen at

From the very beginning, the text indicates its historical context by stating things such as, “In 1820, only a few miles away from what is not the great city of Cincinnati.” This indicates that this took place many years ago in an indefinite area of that time. One of the biggest things that wouldn’t fit in a different time period is the region in which people are “sparsely” spread about. Now a day you really wouldn’t see that as much. Back then though it was pretty common.…

Mrs. Van Bliven claims that her $25,000 necklace was taken, but image and text evidence suggest otherwise. For this reason, Mrs. Van Bliven should be arrested and the necklace is in her room. Mrs. Van Bliven had a motive to stage the heist in pursuance to gain insurance money from the “crime”. As can be seen, changing the large windows at Ridgeview Middle School would benefit everyone. First of all, even though windows can be fascinating they can be an enormous danger. If there was to be a natural disaster such as a tornado, a hailstorm, or an earthquake, the windows could easily shatter. This proposes glass shards and the possibility of being exposed to the weather. What about a predator shooting the windows?…

Shame Shame is one of the dominant themes acted upon in Joss Whedon’s movie adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, specifically the presentation of shame that is associated with sexual prowess. In the bedroom scene with Don John, the bastard son, and Conrad, his trusted follower, there is a feeling of imprisonment and order right away as you see the sleek straight lines of the furniture, geometrical design and the old eloquent decorations. Along with the prop and sound choice, it is clear that this is a place which is under control, is orderly and is to be contained as such. The first thing the audience sees during the first few second of the scene are the legs of Don John and Conrad as they lay in bed with intertwined limbs. Shortly after you see a snapshot of Conrad’s behind in a short dress followed by the face of Don John as he strokes Conrad’s shoulder and stares up at the ceiling.…

I was 23 before I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. As far back as Elementary school I knew that there was something “off” in the way that I processed information. This was surely the smartest decision, and after being trapped in an infected mall for countless weeks, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if one of the members jumped out of the window even after just a glimpse of the outside world. Quotes to support this are on page 477: “The sky was familiar to me now, I just saw it a few days ago. But for Ryan and Shay, it was a whole new story. It was like they were falling and it picked them up, or if they were trapped and that window of hope freed them.” and on page 480: “I have to tell you, from all of these weeks I have endured, all the pain, sorrow, and despair I have gone through, those few seconds of opening the chest if harnesses made up for all of it.”…
