My weaknesses, however, include only financial confidence. By taking the Mapworks survey I am able to not only know my strengths and weaknesses, but work on them as well.
Many of the strengths, such as basic academic behaviors, time management, class attendance and course difficulties, I have acquired through high school. I started taking AP classes since I was a sophomore in high school, which forced me to manage my time so I get my homework done and have time not only for the volunteer opportunities I was involved in, but have time for myself, my family and my friends. My parents always told me that school comes first and I’ve followed that advice. I would get my work done and then do whatever it was that I pleased and it payed off. Though my parents are helping me out during college such as giving me money necessary for food and clothes and paying things like my phone bill, paying for college is all up to me. I have already taken out a loan for this school year and thankfully my I had my brother-in-law help me and guide me through the application process. I ended up choosing the $25 a month in-school payments as that was the best option. My dad offered to pay this $25 a month while I’m in school and I’m thankful for that, but once I graduate that responsibility will fall on me. Frazier held a job in high school and all through college. “I have had a job since the day I became old enough to legally drive myself there,” Frazier said. “Work is second nature to me, It’s not a burden or a hassle, It’s just life.” Frazier said listening to her friends complain when their parents hadn’t sent them their $1,000 for the month yet made her want to “literally gag.” She said the same goes for people who complain about their bad grades being due to not having enough time for school because they also work part-time. “I definitely believe having a job as a student has given me a leg up in college and in the future,” Frazier said. “Kids that have been coddled their whole lives and have had everything handed to them are in for a kick to the face when they finally fly the nest.” Frazier said having a job while simultaneously earning a degree has taught her how to be responsible and set time aside for school so that there’s no question if assignments will get done before class the next day.…

But my way of accomplishing things soon caught up to me and taught me many lessons. My parents have always pushed me to be the very best that I could be since a young boy. They always made me take advanced courses in school; I liked the challenge. Eventually I got to a point where I didn’t want to do any of my homework or study for anything; that period of time was probably when I had the lowest grades out of all my high school years. All I…

In my life I have been very fortunate in that my parents have been willing and able to provide for my financial needs so that I have not had to get a full time job. My parents have always said that school was my job, and I have always worked hard to make sure that I do the absolute best I can in school. In high school I took all honors and AP classes, as well as participating in multiple clubs and after school activities, and now in my first year of college I am already a junior with credits and I am working hard to try to graduate in two and a half years. Although I have not had an officially job so far in my life, I have been babysitting for multiple families since I was about 12 or 13 years old. I have watched children ranging from newborns to middle schoolers, and I have watched as many as five…

I was really worried that I would be put back in regular math, so I took responsibility for myself and got extra help from my teacher and managed to accomplish all A’s on the consecutive tests and end the trimester with almost an A in that class. I’m so thankful that I was taught to be responsible for myself in cheer or else I may not have gotten the same outcome. Out of everything I have been taught these years, the most important skill I picked up from being a Junior Trojan is to never give up. During this season our team did amazing, but there will sporadically be those off days when things don’t always go as intended. On those days, it’s imperative to not give up on yourself and remind everyone that even though it may not have been our best day, it’s important that we remember that we are all talented, and very fortunate to even be where we are.…

Throughout my undergraduate and the first part of my graduate experience to become a school psychologist, I experienced a lot of doubt. Psychology was something I enjoyed and was relatively good at. I decided to keep going because honestly there was realistically nothing else for me to do. School psychology was something I would continue to pursue and try for at least a few years, and move on if I still did not “love” what I was doing. My practicum experience erased this doubt.…
