My Weaknesses And Strengths Of Going To College

Decent Essays
I didn’t ever have a choice of whether I wanted to go to college or not, and even if I did I would have chosen to do so anyways. My desire to finish my college education is more than what most would expect, not only because not many people in my family have done so, but I also plan to pursue my lifelong dreams. I realize it’s a big step in life and that I’ll be learning a lot of new things along the way, but I’m up for the challenge. With college, there comes many different strengths and weaknesses. My exam skills are poor. I’ve never been the best at test taking, especially when it’s a timed exam. I feel that getting help to prepare for an exam ahead of time or maybe taking practice exams or quizzes would help benefit me in the end. Finding new study habits would be for the best as well, due to my poor studying ways. Trying to cram last minute, hardly reading over materials, or not enough note taking and just trying to memorize a whole bunch of material all at once in a short amount of time isn’t the best way to study. I will be seeking out the best way to study for quizzes or exams over time to see what works the best for me. I will also need to seek help when needed, which I didn’t do much of in the past. A few resources I could use to tend to those recommendations are; setting up a meeting with my advisor my advisor, getting a tutor through the Owen’s Center, and I could also attend PASS sessions held for the specific classes I need help with. My academic advisor could walk me through things step by step or even be there just to have someone to talk to about classes. Getting a tutor to help me in areas I’m struggling with would more than likely be the best decision, instead of waiting until it’s too late. Even attending a few PASS sessions would help more than nothing. There are different PASS sessions set up through the Owen’s Center or just for that specific class where they go over the materials you are learning in class, somewhat like a tutoring
