Essay About Writing Fiction

Improved Essays
As a writer I believe I still have a lot more to learn. In writing I think writing fiction is one of my strengths, for example I do enjoy writing short stories on my free time just for fun. I often share them with one of my friends and my cousin. I am still pretty shy about them, but they seem to really like them. Although, they are not the best stories I can spend a lot of time writing them without getting bored. I also enjoy writing argumentative essays, finding evidence that supports my claim is interesting to me as well as finding a counter claim, and then finding the evidence I need to prove the opposing side wrong or just to keep supporting my claim. I believe my weakness in writing is writing essays or topics with no background knowledge …show more content…
There is a lot of emotion put into that book and it mostly makes you want to cry because you know all of the stuff happened to actual people. All of these books i've read have shown me how I have to write someday. I hope that someday I will be able to write as outstanding as these authors. Many of my teachers have influenced me in my writing by helping me correct my mistakes, such as run on sentences, grammar and so on. I think the teacher that influenced me the most was Mr. Moore, was really strict with grammar when I had him my freshman year, but thanks to him being as strict as he was I was able to learn a lot more about grammar. That year I also improved a lot on my writing skills. With english being my second language I think i've improved a lot, sometimes I read over some things i've written a few years ago and I realize how much I've learned and improved. I am proud of myself for that. In this upcoming year I hope to learn more grammar and how to avoid wordiness and run on sentences, since that seems to be one of my biggest

This is my review on the book Shattered Lives; This book was written by Camila Batmanghelidjh the founder of Kids Company; the registered charity was founded in 1996 with the aim to provide support to deprived inner city children. The author was born into wealthy family in Iran and arrived in England aged twelve where she attended private school. The book is sectioned into ten chapters, with an introduction and appendix at the end explaining who is who in the therapy world, and a guide to substance misuse. The book consists of several letters written to victims of abuse, which seem to be in the form of apologies to children who have been let down by the system.…

Over the semester, I found that the hardest part of all of the essays that I have written was using and finding evidence. The first paper that I wrote was extremely hard to write because I did not know how to find and use evidence. Now, I feel extremely confident in doing this. Another thing that I would like to point out is I am not as repetitive as I was before. Most of the papers that I have written before this year were very repetitious.…

Writing would never be called my passion; however, if the topic of interest is thought-provoking, writing can be pleasurable. I have always been exceedingly critical of my writing, and I have a bad habit of producing your standard “five paragraph with five sentences” essay. High school was the true test of my writing skills, mainly because I had to take the ACT and SAT with writing if I wanted to get into the only Georgia school that I thought was up to par with my standards: The University of Georgia. Even though my teachers have considered me to be an acceptable writer, I have always considered myself rather subpar. This insecurity about my writing has haunted me throughout my life, and I have this feeling towards writing mainly…

As a writer I work best in quiet places where I have the ability to write with no interruptions. My mind has to be completely free of all other thoughts to write a great paper. Having time beforehand to think about what I am going to write about helps me to be able to sit down and immediately start writing. I also feel successful when I not only write a lot, but when all of the writing is good, I feel as though I have many strengths as well as weaknesses.…

I was enthralled with it and, at times, could not put it down. It was relatable to me because of my family situation in high school, but I believe any young adult can relate to being bullied and losing someone. Young adults love to read about love stories, but this book was more than that. Relatable topics like abusive relationships, bullying, self image, and family all resonate with the majority of young adults. This book was well written and easy to understand which made it that more easy to got lost in.…

Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

I connected with this book on a very personal level. Joy reminds me a lot of my Mom who was also a single mom for most of my life. My mom also emphasizes the importance of education very heavily. In a way, the whole dynamic that is happening where Wes is being defiant to his mom, when she is just trying to help him improve his grades reminds me of how things used to be between me and my…

Through my experiences with writing essays in high school, I have noticed a few strengths and weaknesses with my writing. My main strength is the structure of my writing. I know what to say when I need to so I don’t tend to ramble on to tangents. Another strength I have is writing about topics that I love because I can just spill all my thoughts out onto paper and never have to worry about having enough sentences.…

People forget the impact of a written word. Of how whenever you see a slightly inspirational quote with a dramatic background you feel encouraged to take on the day. Writing and reading creates solitude of the mind to function as it pleases. Recording all your thoughts is impossible, our minds move too quickly. But writing down the moments that deserve your attention can change your thought process on a bad day.…

My History As A Writer Throughout my lifetime I have come to love and absolutely hate writing. The reasoning of the assignment or topic has a lot to do with my affinity and disgust. Although learning new things, like writing, was something that I loved doing in elementary school, that all changed when it was daily implemented. As an art form I recently come to love writing down my thoughts, ideas, opinions and stories.…

“A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.” ― Thomas Mann. Writing is a subject that is different for everyone. In my opinion if I could write about a topic I choose and I am passionate about I know my papers would be interesting to read. On the other hand, I when I am given a topic to write about I think it is harder to make the paper interesting and enjoyable to read.…

Critical reflection Reflecting back on what I have learnt about myself as a writer is that it is okay to be aware of your weaknesses and using the necessary tools to support and strengthen them. As a writer it is good to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with new genres. Let your writing take you on an emotional journey, and let your emotions lead your writing into a new journey. As a writer you need to expand your vocabulary and use powerful descriptive words to really create a mental image for your readers. I have learnt to understand the importance of sentence structure, drafting, and proof reading and not over using commas creating sentences that are too long.…

My strengths in writing are that I’m very confident about sharing my opinion and I think I can bring a different viewpoint on topics. I’m also a good public speaker and I try to implement that into my writing and make my papers lively. In addition, I’m good at implementing quotes and examples into my papers and I think it makes my essays stronger. I also think my writing style is unique and doesn’t have a concrete structure to it. This is good because I can write different types of papers while still sticking to my…
