My Visit To Geneseo

Improved Essays
While attending a career and transfer fair at my two-year college this Fall, I only had one intention; to visit the Geneseo booth. After discovering that a Geneseo representative would be at my college, it was clear to me that I had to go. I had visited the campus before, and after getting a glimpse at the small tight-knit community of students, I had only confirmed my desires to gain admittance to Geneseo. In addition, after researching many different schools, my search always without failure boils down to Geneseo. It has the perfect combination of intriguing extracurricular activities, academic fraternities, and English courses that I am looking for. Not to mention that the transfer agreements between Jamestown Community College and Geneseo

At last, the time has come for the start of what parents have talked about since birth and what teenagers wished would come faster, graduation. However, it’s not just graduating high school it’s a stepping stone towards a life-long career. In addition, the first decision high-school graduates must make is whether or not to go to college. Nevertheless, the cost of attendance, course of study, and location are all important factors in choosing between Northeast Lakeview college and the University of Texas San Antonio. When deciding whom to interview for this paper I first thought about what area of higher education I wanted to learn more about. After thinking of a few different individuals I decided to interview Sabrina Tapps-Fee, a Senior Admission Counselor and Coordinator of the Tour Guide program for the University of Iowa. I decided to interview Sabrina, because admissions is an area of higher education that really interests me. I knew Sabrina had a long history working in admissions and I was interested in learning more about her experiences.…

Nichols paints the recruitment process as a frivolous experience meant to cater to a student’s every need. Nichols claims “Colleges now are marketed like multiyear vacation packages, rather a contract with an institution and its faculty for a course of educational study.” (72). This is unsound inductive reasoning on Nichols part. He does not offer sufficient evidence other than his own word or a few sporadic campus activities, very exclusive to the individual universities.…

Dear, Point Pleasant Beach High School I would like to thank Beach's program for touring me around the school during the open house and Dr. Grosshandler for taking the time out of his day to discuss my possible future with Point Pleasant Beach and its amazing academic program. Beach has gained a reputation of producing intelligent students and sending them off to college. Being considered for a program with such a productive system brings a monumental amount of joy to me and my family. We left Courthouse Rock one day later and we traveled fourteen miles to Chimney Rock. We didn't stop there. We just drove right by. This formation was named Chimney Rock because it looks like a chimney stack for a factory or a chimney from a burned down house. When we left to go to Fort Laramie a bolder fell on one of the wheels of our wagon.…

I couldn’t stand the competitive and pretentious atmosphere of Marvin Ridge, so my sophomore year of high school I transferred to Weddington High which was just a few miles down the road. Most of the students that were at Marvin had come from Weddington after the school became over populated. I was nervous to see if the schools would be all too similar, however Weddingtons nickname was Weed-ington, so my fears were not too great. I was pleasantly surprised at what I…

This summer I had the privilege to travel to Atchison, Kansas, where I attended the Life Teen Leadership Conference at Benedictine College. This conference was not only the best week I have ever experienced, but it was a week filled with many Catholic teens joined together in learning how we can live out our Catholic faith, and what it means to be a leader at school, home, and church. During this conference I encountered a bible verse that opened my eyes and truly resonated with my heart, making me rethink my life and how I was living it. “Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple” Luke 14:27. I had heard this verse before at church many years before this event, but in that moment at LTLC, the world stopped…

They don’t tell you who I am as a person, nor do they tell you if I would be a good candidate for your school. I would first like to start off saying that your school is at the top of my list, as well as many others. I know that I am a perfect candidate for FIT as I have learned many great things in high school and at the community college I attend that will benefit me on my journey as I go to transfer to a four year University of my choice.…

Failures are what make us human, and sometimes you have to take one step back to take 2 steps forward. Monmouth County in New Jersey contains some of the top vocational high schools in the country. The highly competitive nature of these programs makes them highly sought after by many residents including myself. There are five vocational schools located within Monmouth County, but students can only apply to one, and only one student from each town is accepted. It was my dream to attend one of these prestigious schools, but events do not always unfold as planned.…
