Personal Narrative: My Religious Background

Most of my life, my parents raised me to do the right thing and that good things come to those that are good. They always knew what the right thing to do was and taught me to know even if I did not like doing it. Everyone has a different religious background and that is what makes it unique. To show you my religious background in these next paragraphs, I will talk about my religious heritage, religious traditions that we celebrate, how I practice and understand religion today, and how I understand my life. Both of my parents are Lutheran just like their parents before them. On my mom’s side, her grandparents, so my great-grandparents, still go to this old country church in the middle of nowhere. Right next to the church there sits a cemetery. Having the cemetery right next to the church would make it easy to see loved ones that have passed away after going to church or before. Also, when my great grandpa was buried there it made it easy to see where he was buried. It did not relate to me and how I want to express my religion. I just wait until I go home for breaks to go to church. Besides going to church, I pray more when I am around my family than I do when I am by myself. What I mean by that is when we have family dinner we say a prayer before we eat. I do not like to show what religion I am because if someone would like to know they can ask me. I do not like to tell everyone what religion I am because people are stupid. The Reason why I say people are stupid is because if I told them my religion they would say I am wrong in believing in that. I am not afraid for people to know I just think it is not a big deal as long as you believe in something whether it is a god or not it is someone’s
