My Values Assessment

Growing up, It’s hard figuring out your purpose or whether you even have one. Life tends to throw obstacles at you, leaving you vulnerable and afraid to move forward. Luckily, life also throws you opportunities. Opportunities come in all different types; it could be a person, an interview, a scholarship, anything. It’s up to you to look past these obstacles and move forward to find your true purpose. I found an interest in art at a young age, I also have always had a heart dedicated to helping others. I feel as if I can take the two and help kids with whatever emotions they possess and help them transform that into art. There’s too many kids – even adults – that are struggling with something. When referring to my academic values, personal values, and career values, I feel as if all six values fall into all three of these categories. Academically, I work hard and independently, I strive for achievement and recognition for my work, I prefer nicer conditions while studying and learning, I also love meeting new people, making new relationships with others, and helping others or receiving help from others with support. Personally, I’m independent with everything I do, I work hard at achieving goals and obstacles, I appreciate recognition in terms of moving up and beyond where I currently stand in life, I love to giving support to others, in terms of working conditions, I enjoy working in places where I feel most comfortable, and with relationships, I love to build them with anyone I get the chance to. Career-wise, I also use all of my values. Achievement is necessary in a career as well as recognition in terms of moving forward, Independence is something that is always necessary for me even in working environments, with working conditions, as well as with my personal values, I like to work where I am most comfortable. Lastly, Relationships and support are always very necessary with careers as you need to expand your sources and networks as well as create a support team. All of these fulfill …show more content…
I am very happy to say that I will be an art teacher. There is so much more to being an art teacher than what people see on the surface. I value relationships with others and the support that goes behind it, I value achievement not only with myself but with others, I value recognition not only in myself but in others as well, and I value independence. With my restorative abilities, I’d be able to help students with any problems they seem to be facing. Being fascinated with ideas will show the students that I am truly here for them and to watch them tackle their obstacles through art. Being a relator, will be helpful to my students when they need a helping hand in their work or their lives. Overall, being artistic and social will be the two main things that will help me get to where I need to be in the future. This is not only helpful for myself but for others as well. During my career assessment, some of my top career choices were artist or a teacher. Why not do both and help people in whatever artistic way we can? Obstacles shield everyone’s eyes at some time or another, if I can be the person that shows them around these obstacles, that will be my purpose
