This was the only time that I would stand up and fight, no matter who the adversaries were. She was my only true friend. The only person that I felt was inherently good, despite her attitude and bad behaviour. I decided the second she started school, I would protect her with everything I had. I soon found out that I was not going to be needed much. That girl is a spitfire. She ended up being the one who protected me most of the time and now almost 17 years later, she still does. Leigh Ann Schusler. "Not Leigh Anne with an ‘e '. Leigh Ann. Not Schuster – it 's Schusler. I 'm not Leon Schuster 's kid!" She drilled that into my head from the moment we met. I don 't exactly remember how we became friends. It 's as if she had always been there. I was a very naïve child because I was so introspective, but Leigh Ann taught me the value of friendship. She taught me so many things. We were besties up until we left for High School.
