During my tutoring session I had at the Learning Center Jennifer and I went over my topics. The main topic she helped me with was working on topic sentences working on my body paragraphs. Figuring out the effect of each appeal was the details within the body paragraphs. After working on the body paragraphs we worked on how I started my paragraphs. Jennifer said, “Add my judgment and do more than just announce the topic. Lastly, she helped me with my conclusion to my essay. She explained all the different parts of the conclusion including how you summarize your body paragraphs and ending with a wide-open topic.

At the beginning of the tutoring project, Jamie was thought to be on a second grade reading level. However, after the administration of the QRI-5, I learned that Jamie is on an independent level for word recognition and is on the instructional comprehension level. By the post-assessment Jamie could still read with an independent word recognition but her comprehension core decreased to frustration. The first QRI-5 that was administered the student was unfamiliar with the reading with a low 33%. During the second reading test, Jamie scored a 75% familiarity with the reading concepts in the text.…

On September 30, 2015, me and five of my other fellow students that are in the generic nursing program at CUNY York college, were given the opportunity to do a presentation at Selfhelp center located in Bayside, New York. We arrived at Selfhelp at 8:45am with our Health Assessment Professor Dr. Amicucci accompanying us and began our presentation around 9:00am, on hypertension. I remember that a total of 15 people showed interest in attending our presentation and wanted to learn new information regarding hypertension. Selfhelp is a not-for-profit organization that has helped thousands of elderly and still continues to do so, by providing them with a direction in life. Selfhelp not only supports the elderly, but it also has a mission to aid…

Lone Star College has a lot of helpful resources and services that I didn’t know about, but there were only 5 that really stood out to me. The first service were The Dance and Zumba Classes in the health and wellness center because I do like to stay active and I feel like those to classes will help to stay fit. Secondly, I chose the Library because they have study rooms that students can use to study when they need a quiet place to look over notes, and I feel that this will benefit me a lot because if I have test that I have to study for I will be able to go there and look over some notes without having to be interrupted by people I will really be able to concentrate on what I need to look over. The third resource I decided to choose was the…

In being a physics embedded tutor, I have helped a number of students to get a better understanding in the subject. I believe that helping students, regardless of their race, skin color and religious beliefs, will not only help themselves, but help the whole school and community in improving towards a better future. The Ohlone Embedded Tutor Program places a tutor in the classroom under the instructor's guidance to help students understand course concepts and enhance student engagement. I usually committed to full three hours per class session and sometimes provide tutoring support after class or on a different day if it is more agreeable depending on students’ availability and interest. Mostly in class I always offer my perspective of an…

After completing my assignment period, I learned that I thoroughly enjoyed being an instructor to the new hires, even though it was for only a short period of time. During my assignment I also had the opportunity to collaborate with the other mentors about training techniques and areas of opportunity.…

The concepts I have learned in this course will not only help me in my future work, but have also given me extremely useful life knowledge to apply to my personal life. I think it’s important that every adult has an understanding of auto and workers compensation insurance. Then as far as my future career in business, the concepts of general liability and property insurance are sure to apply whether I choose the finance or risk management route. When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…

I had to be flexible to cater my lesson plan to my student, so he could build upon what he learned and advance through more challenging activities.…
