Ever since I was a young girl, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. However, what kind of teacher was always the question in my mind. When I entered college, I was sent on becoming an elementary school teacher, yet somewhere along the way, I found my true passion—middle school science. So, what changed? What led me to want to pursue being a middle school and science teacher, above all? Simple. The types of experiences I have encountered in college made me realize that there is not just one model of science classes, but that they can indeed be very interactive and engaging. While in high school, I took Physical Science, Earth and Environmental, Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology, all of which were honors courses. As I reflect on my experience, I notice that most of my classes were structured fairly similarly. You would come in, take notes, and complete a classwork assignment, before beginning your homework, if there was enough time. Occasionally, the teachers would divide us into groups where we could complete labs or group projects. But usually, you could …show more content…
While I realize that there were many other instructional activities and projects that my teachers used to convey content, the mentioned projects are the ones that I most remember. Overall, I would say that I had a fairly good secondary science experience. While there are ways that it could have been improved, it could also have been worse, and therefore, I am grateful for the experience I
