Driving on, we drove to our hotel. It was two stories, with outer stairs connecting them; our room was on the second floor, third or fourth door. Inside reminded me of a log cabin, not by the look but the feel. It was dark, but not dreary; and it had a cable T.V, with over 1,000 channels and nothing on, or so it seemed to me. After settling in, we headed out to the military base. The building we went to was open to the outside, with cement pillars holding up a cement roof. I stood there waiting for something to happen, when all of the sudden, there was a burst of smoke from the left. It stank bad. And sure enough, there was Klay, getting ready for his Bluecord ceremony. He had been in boot camp for months, and now he was graduating. I tried to pay attention, but it was so cold, it was all I could think about. The new recruits, on the other hand, stood at attention, listening to the speech. When the speech was nearing its end, the man shouted, "Drop and give me 10!" Which of course every recruit did, much to my amusement. After they got up, they were free to talk. Klay came over; Sabrina, his ex-wife, put his bluecord around his right arm. Leaving the 'auditorium', we all went to a McDonalds, then back to the hotel. Heading out the next morning, we checked out of the hotel and headed down to the field. We had all sat down on the bone-chilling, metal seats, when there was a gun shot and some smoke, on the other side of the field.
