My Trip To Florida-Personal Narrative

It was late June when we got out of school. It was our last day and I couldn’t wait to sleep in and chill on the beaches in southern Florida. Me and my family had planned to head down to Miami, Florida by tomorrow night, and I couldn’t wait. I went to Florida when I was little, and I remember boogie boarding across the small ocean waves. Most of my family members were excited for the weather, hot, not cold like it was here in Michigan. But I was excited for the hot sand between my toes and blue water surrounding me. We left at 4:30 pm, as soon as I got home, my family had just finished packing and we threw our suit cases in the bed of the truck and left. “Anybody forget anything”? my dad said. “oh no I forgot my charger” my brother shrieked. It didn’t matter if anyone said anything since we were already halfway there. “well good thing I asked” my dad replied. “we will buy you a new one at the next stop”. It was our second day driving. We had stopped at a nearby hotel around 1:00 am, and left after breakfast around 6:00 am, everyone seemed tired, the first couple hours of driving …show more content…
When we walked in the salt smell filled our noses. We filled out some information and went into the back room. Two young adults, one female, one male grabbed one of our boards and taught us the basics, like how to stand and how to paddle. After a fifteen-minute demonstration, we grabbed our boards and headed out. The surfboard was a lot bigger than I expected. The board was twice the size, and weight of me, I underestimated the skill of surfers at first until I grabbed ahold of the board. We had to walk to the beach, which was 3 blocks away from the surf shop. I was struggling to carry the board since it was awfully heavy. There were dozens of surfers out in the ocean, the water was the bluest water I have laid eyes

Florida is a land of sun palm trees and sand. Florida being a southern state with sweet tea, Publix, and Disney just a few hours away, had many perks. I had never thought of what it might be like to grow up in a northern area, or just even outside of Florida. Up until my 14th summer I had always assumed everyone lived the same way I did. It had all started when I got accepted to a summer program in Washington D.C to attend a medical forum.…

After adjusting to the chill temperature of the water, I sat on some rocks and let the waves knock me around. On the other hand, the rest of my family had grown restless, wanting to brave the increasingly high waves. After treading water for a bit, my father decided it would be a great idea to swim to the buoy—really just a piece of wood—that was thirty feet away in the waves. My sister Sarah and I accepted the challenge…

It was a Tuesday, on September 22nd, 2015, I claimed my seat by the window of a Southwest plane, and leaned down to shove my large purple bag below my seat. I had put my headphones over my ears to escape the noises of the world around me. I turned my head to my dad and brother Taylor, they were adjusting to get comfortable, and then I rotated the opposite way to stare out the tiny window. It was a sunny afternoon, I was already thrilled to get out of high school, and to go to Florida was even better! I haven’t been to Florida in over 7 years and before that my family used to go every year.…

Not only did we travel to the heart of Miami but we also went to the Tampa FL area aswell, there we went to many beaches one of them being called Clearwater Beach. I mean the name alone says it all it was absolutely amazing to me because of the fact that i've never traveled out of KC and i didn't know what to expect from beaches but it was so beautiful. As i arrived to the beach I knew right away I was going to love it, seeing everyone in there little tent that the beach rents you was so cute. I’ve swam in the ocean and been boating upon it, but i’d never had the marvelous experience to ride the waves. We ran toward the waves with our boards pressed on the side of our abdomen and hips. The feel of sea drizzle upon my toasted red cheeks I just couldn't help but smile. As the moon pulled the tide in and out, time was not apparent in my mind. The first attempts proved that I wasn't a natural-born surfer by any means.…

For an event so dramatic in my life, I still find it strange that I only vaguely remember it, especially because I could have lost my life that day. But I do recall that it was a clear, sunny day in one of the warmer months of 2011, and that I was still an energetic, ever-enthusiastic 10-year-old, much like an obnoxious, but adorable puppy. That day, I ventured to the beach at the aptly-named city of Oceanside, California with Carleigh, my 5-year-old little sister, and our dear old mother. She and I had been psyching ourselves up all week long before we left. What excited my sister was merely the chance to play with the family friends we were destined to meet up with, but I couldn’t wait to catch a ride the waves with my brand-new boogie board.…
