My Trip To Feed My Starving Children

Decent Essays
Tonight I went to Feed My Starving Children. I really enjoyed being there and knowing that I was helping kids who aren't as fortunate as we are. I went with eleven of my friends that are in advanced english. I chose to go to feed my starving children because it is a great feeling knowing that you are helping others and the last time I went there with my confirmation group I had a blast. At Feed My Starving Children we learned about a little boy in Haiti that was really sick and lived with his grandpa, once Fedner got the food that FMSC volunteers packed he became healthy and started going to school. We boxed 171 boxes and made 36,936 meals for the families and children in Haiti and we fed 101 kids for a whole year, it only cost $8,125

A couple weeks ago, Holy Ghost had its annual service trip to the Dominican Republic. I had heard about the trip from Dr. O’Connor when I did the summer enrichment program in 6th grade. I looked forward to going on the trip when I got to Ghost, and I got the chance this summer. At first I was really nervous, but by the second day there I realized how special the trip truly is. I got to give my Spanish a jog, I got to meet a ton of new people, and I had my eyes opened to a new way of living.…

The youth raised money to go on the trip, so I decided to help. As always, Pastor Tim used this as an experience to teach us. We asked people to sponsor us to read out loud for an hour. I know it sounds odd, but it began a process which would change my life forever. Originally, Pastor Tim had said we would read the Bible, but He had just read a book he felt would interest us.…

Feed my starving children is a non-profit organization that packages food to send to malnourished children in several countries. These sustainable meals are made specifically to pack as many nutrients as possible to help nourish and strengthen the children so they can be healthy and conquer their fight against starvation. When most people think about global hunger they think of a lack of production of food in developing countries, however, it’s more than that. Global hunger encompasses not only food production and security, but also distribution and access. Feed my starving children distributes their packed food to about 70 countries which gives children in these countries access to food that otherwise would not be there.…

Yesterday's Hunger Banquet was a great experience! It really opened up my eyes, there were 3 groups, the low income, middle income, and high income. I was the low income, I ate dry rice and water. I kind of wished I was the upset class people, they ate fruit, pasta, bread, salad, and drank orange juice. The middle class ate beans and rice and water.…

Some of the younger kids had a hard time sitting still, so we took them to another room and played some fun worship songs. I watched the joy on all of their faces as they danced and sang along to the music. What makes this a significant experience for me is that I get to give back to this community of people who are hope-filled and are waiting for someone to reach out to them. I very often take for granted what I have and what I am given, and some of these people are willing to travel from miles away to see us and experience the light of Christ through our works of service and…

When we went to the church and went through the hardships of the immigrants in Syria I felt empowered and stunned that some people had to go through these hardships. I was very shocked and I felt pity for all the immigrants. This recreation made me more aware of the need of peace in our world because no one should go through these hardships. They are horrific and painful to even just think about. If we had peace in this world, none of this would happen.…
