My Trip To Chicago

My family went on a vacation to chicago to see my sister graduate from the navy. Instead of flying there we took a train to chicago. That was the best ride on a train that I have ever taken. When we got to chicago it was a big train depot. We had to walk forever until we got to the taxi that was going to pick us up to take us to the car that my dad had rented. From there we went and got into the hotel. Then the day that we had the graduation came up and so we headed to the military base. That was the most scariest part of the trip. The reason is because of the security of the base. When you first drive up there are two gunners that are above the cars then you have to give them your ID’s from that point on you have people that walk right

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

The Great Chicago Fire was one of the most horrible disasters in history. The incident was when the city of Chicago experienced a horrible spread of fire from an unknown source. Before the fire, Chicago was a huge city that was mostly made out of a very flammable type of wood, and during the time the city had not gotten any rain, and the winds caused the fire to spread even faster. The fire was said to be started at Catherin O’Leary’s barn, and many people say that it started when she was milking her cow, the cow kicked over an oil candle and the fire started to spread, but other theories such as a comet hitting the area are present.…

Some people say that in order to accomplish an obstacle, you must have courage. When I was about seven years old, I remember going to my dad's military base a few hours before he was deployed to Iraq. It was a family day for the families of the army members who were going to be deployed. A family day was a day to spend time with military members and to unwind, have food, enjoy yourself, and do fun activities with your family on the military base. After a few hours of relaxing and eating, the people who were deployed, including my dad, had to head to the launch pad to take off.…

    Why Go To Chicago

There are many reasons why I would like to go to the University of Chicago, but I’d like to start off with the academic aspect of the university. While not specifically a Liberal Arts college, it seems to me that “The Core” is very akin to a Liberal Arts curriculum in the sense that it forces you to expand yourself into different disciplines. I am a big believer in learning about everything because, as I have found, everything is interconnected. With “The Core” curriculum at the University of Chicago, that message of nondiscriminatory learning is clearly emphasized and I know that I will grow as both a person and a student in that kind of an environment. Once I complete “The Core” curriculum, I will be able to focus more on my major working with world-renown faculty solving the world’s problems one step at a time.…
