Personal Narrative: My First Time Management

Decent Essays
The first time management procedure I have developed is taking 5 minutes out of my lunch break to work on the weekly report.

For others within the organization they make time for themselves by asking me to go to the Houston Permitting Center.

Many things can result from poor time management. For myself, this has resulted in not very much time to eat lunch and also I have almost missed the deadline for turning in one of the reports.

My day starts with going straight to the jobsite. After getting there, I talk to the subcontractors that are there and ask what they are going to be doing for the day. Following that, either my supervisor will stop by or call and ask how things are progressing.

All of the meetings that I have attended lately have been about how things are progressing on the

But there have also been meetings in the past where I have been a participant, attendee or recorder.

The leadership style that I have witnessed so far is that of a person that is laid back. Both my supervisor and another coworker are just there watching trying to stay out of the way and will answer any questions that are brought up. Also they like to talk to the subs and get to know them. They both understand that not everything will go according to the way you tried to plan it.

Having this kind of leadership style can cause you to have a better relationship with the workers that are there. A weakness of a laid back style is that if something were to go wrong or something bad were to happen then you can possibly get pushed around by building management. Sometimes the contractor can get treated like their time means nothing to them.

As for myself, I have somewhat adopted a laid back approach. Being a little pushy and also being very observant of what they are doing in accordance with what the plans call out for has caused very little error.

I am overjoyed to finally have started the new

It provided support to families, teens, and children. My supervisor had started the program many years earlier and was well liked in the community. She provided the best feedback on groups I was running and also asked for my feedback on things she was doing.…

According to Peter Northouse (2015), this leadership style involves communication with the followers and leader, not a linear or one way event but an interactive event (Northouse, 2015, p. 6). This type of leadership engages everyone and makes followers feel valued, and as if they can communicate any issues that may arise. In relationship leadership, the leader is an advocate for making the work place pleasant, treating others with respect and dignity, as well as building camaraderie and helping people get along. This leadership style is what I feel will help subordinate’s work together and become more productive, allowing each person to be accountable with less conflict. Although not all conflicts are bad, improvements have come about as a result of some conflicts which in turn are a good thing.…
